Good idea. Okay first negative. He can't play D very well. Just watch him play D. Sure he can jump high to blcok shots, but he slacks off on defense. He lets even the worst of players by him. Mickael Pietrus is the only Warrior who can really guard the 2 guard well.
I know I am breaking the "rules" but defense, or lack thereof is JRich's most glaring weakness in his game. The effort and intensity just isn't there. To bring up another negative to me would be his lack of aggressiveness or ability to drive by a defender to get to the rim. To me, it seems like he tries, but can not get around him. He falls in love with the jumpshot or 3pter and does not make a good % of his free throws when he does get to the line.
He has all the physical abilities to be a great defender but sometimes that works at a disadvantage. He is so athletic which has gotten him by so far. Its hard to believe that he can't become a good defensive player with some work.
I'm sorry ... but Jason Richardson is a defensive liability ... he could barely play any form of defence ... only defence he can play somewhat decently is Weak-Side shot blocking ... He's not really a smart defender either(i.e. He forces guys who are left-handed towards their left ...) His ball-handling skills are OKAY ... but he can be so much better if he works on this aspect of his game

He has grown up and learned to lean on his athletic ability and size that he did not need to try too hard thus developed bad habits and he is trying to break those bad habits.
His defensive footwork is horrible as is his recognition on defense. How many times have you seen where he gets beat back door? That's simply defensive intelligence, mental error. Ball-handling? I guess its improved but I still cringe whenever he brings it up. There has been criticism about his aggressiveness to the rim and I disagree because he looks more aggressive now than before. My favorite is Dunleavy His weaknesses are lack of aggression and lack of footwork on defense. Larry Bird was a poor defender but he learned to be passable because he worked on positioning and using his smarts to anticipate. I hope Dunleavy can and will learn that aspect.

Also Larry Bird was big enough to play power forward at 6'10-6'11, Dunleavy isn't. Dunleavy is trying to play a wing position when he is a bit in between like Pat Garrity and Antwan Jamison. They are just too shrimpy to be effective playing power forward full time. Also Larry Bird could win games with his shot and posting up (he did a little bit of everything and was a star without a doubt from college and when he got into the nba). Dunleavy had other Duke teammates that made him look good wheras nobody from Bird's school made into the nba did they? Also Bird knew how to score and not just cycle the ball around the top of the arc, looking lost on any offense and and missing J's badly. Also Larry Bird wasn't physically or mentally a wussy. When you have 12 year olds at the arena telling Dunleavy to grow some nads, that's just embarassing. Now back to Jrich, since anything bad on Jrich suddenly becomes why Dunleavy is a much better player in theory. In theory that is. It's about putting the ball in the bucket and stopping the other guy from returning the favor remember? Okay so here's Jrich: He can't defend well because he's slow footed and he's lazy on defense which pisses me off. Jrich can't dribble very well through traffic or take someone off the dribble because he's likely to turn the ball over. He even dribbled it off his foot numerous occcasions and to the other team for a fastbreak dunk. He also can't make free throws. Sometimes he gets as bad as Antoine Walker. Also his 3 point shooting is so inconsistent. He's a good rebounder, an explosive and exciting player, always improves and has the goal of being the man in Oakland and he's not just in it for the money, although he is Greedy. Blame that on anyone represented by Dan Fegan.
Last night's game showed me one of the biggest problems with JRich, sure he scored what 35(?), but during the game there were at least 8-10 times where he was late getting back, many times when he's trying for a steal and did not even shoot the ball, and he put his teammates in a bad position having to rotate over to cover his man. That just kills me. Its not that hard to bust your butt to get back on D.
