I coached some kids, and I had a kid who just dominated on the field, could not be stopped. This kid was so quick into backfield as a DT he intercepted the handoff. He had the worst attitude ever, and he single handedly destroyed the team. If you insert a cancerous cell into a human and the cancer will grow and grow until it kills the human. The only solution to destroy or remove the cancer. I did not have that option to remove player, so i was handcuffed, eagles can remove TO so there is some hope.

He right about that kid, he was 7 years old and unstoppable and he knew it and had the worst attitude you could imagine....Pop Warner rules prohibit you from cutting him and the head coach wanted him to play....a few times I threw him off the offense(I was the O-coordinator), but the head coach(also the D-Co), just put him right in on D.....needless to say, by the end of the season, we had lost control of the team because of a 7 year old with a bad attitude....you learn from that tho, and this season, we had our own team, no one to listen too and we nipped the BS attitudes in the bud and things are great....what does this have to do with the topic? that kids is exactly like Owens....and when the head coach let him run rampant, the other kids noticed and adopted similar attitudes....the Eagles must hold thier ground no matter what, its the only chance to hold it together....Im pretty happy with the way they are handling it now, but we will see what they do if TO really sits during the season....

I highly doubt Andy Reid will let this become a distraction.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (vikingfan)</div><div class='quotemain'>T.O.'s agent should not have strapped TO into such a long term deal if it wasn't favorable.

Who thinks the injury last year is a bit more bothersome than TO is letting on? Maybe he knows he won't be eligible for those later year payments due to injury.</div>

As far as TO's health & him possibly not playing his contract. Tough! TO & his agent should both be men of honor & integrity (right. Look who I'm talking about) and honor the contract.

The contracts that have most money paid out at the beginning are good thing IMO. If you get someone of value then its a good deal all around. With exception of bonuses, no money in the NFL is guaranteed so the owners are then free to go out and get a better player.

Otherwise, These back loaded contracts come back to haunt you. Don't believe me? The 49ers are still trying to right the financial ship that occurred in the Seifert & Mariucci years.

And your an "expert" because; 1) you say you are, 2) you are Eagles fan, or 3) you played end & guard (end of the bench & guard the water bucket) at a JC somewhere in Jersey? [IMG]

I may have not been a player but I do know what I'm talking about. Its called study & research. Ex-players don't always know what going on either. @ examples; Dan Dierdorf & Dave Wannstedt.

p.s. I am so impressed w/ myself still being able to trash the vanilla one and he's been gone for awhile. [IMG]

I have no problem with players holding out before their contracts are up to get more money. Teams will usuallly cut players one or two years before the contract is up if it is not beneficial to them. This is ridiculous. ONE YEAR INTO A CONTRACT!!! A SEVEN YEAR DEAL!!! He is a cancer, all of you who said he wasnt(that would be eagles fans, and eagles fans only) were clearly wrong, and now the team is suffering for its stupidity.

Heh, far from that. I've played just about every position in football, and I finished off with TE and CB in high school. Not Jersey, but Southeast PA. If I did play Jersey football, I'd be all over that comment. According to some of my older brother's dorm-mates from Jersey, it's the hardest state to play football in. The sad thing is they honestly believe that it is.

I'm also the O-coordinator for my old high school's freshmen football team, and I do agree getting rid of the bad influences is essential. During last years summer practices, this kid was running over what turned out to be our best defensive players, and he was a QB. The kid had a hell of an arm, but he was raised in Southwest Philadelphia and was just a punk. He related to me, but he couldn't keep himself out of trouble. It's a shame, could've started QB as a sophomore, but they ended up kicking him out of school after too many suspensions. The thing is, those were kids. You were also coaching kids, and we're talking about the NFL, not 7 or 8 year olds. There is alot of leadership on any successful team to assure that one players influence doesn't become widespread.

I was gonna say what about Texas & Florida? I'd even say PA & Ohio before NJ.

That's exactly what I said, but they can't be convinced otherwise
