I was debating this with a couple of guys on another forum, so I want to see what the members of JBB think.

Who do you think has the brighter future? Carmelo Anthony or Dwayne Wade?

I went right away with Wade, just because of the pure talent you can already see in him. He puts up triple double numbers close to every game, and he is playing at point guard. I think Anthony's game is good, but I don't think he is as good as Wade. Look at Melo this year, he has done close to nothing, except get engaged. Wade has led his team to thirteen straight victories.

I would love to hear any other oppinions.

I think Wade has the brighter future. As you said, he posts near triple double numbers consistently and he is in the form of his life. He just needs to work on his shooting more and he will be better.

He's good just the way he is though.

This is an obvious question no doubt about it. It defintly has to be Wade he went to playoffs his Rookie season and showed that can handle end of game situations. Not only that he performed great, Wade for sure. ^_-

I think Wade has a better future. He is more of a complete player than Melo. Wade can pass, rebound, score. He even shoots a high percentage and has the most dominant big man in the league and his team is probably the 3rd best in the NBA right now. Melo is only a scorer and unless the Nuggets start winning more than the Heat, I don't see Melo having a better future than Wade

Rather than repeat what has already been said (btw I agree with everything), I think Wade has the better future because of his mentality. He stays out of trouble and has a very positive head on his shoulders. Melo has found himself in too many situations that could have been advoided.

Also do the guy who said Wade led his team to 13 straight victories, he has Shaq. If you ask anyone who knows about basketball, they would say Shaq is a better player to have on your team than Wade. For the future Wade is better but other than that Shaq is the present of the Heat. Wade is the future.

Shaq makes everything easier and I think if Melo had Shaq he'd be playing better. HE would get that open jumper more often with Shaq around. You can put it this way, Wade has Shaq and Melo has K-Mart. Theres a big difference.

To answere your question though Flash is the better player. Melo was last year, but Melo doesn't seem to be playing as well as last year. Flash on the other hand is on a whole other level.

I agree, any team would rather have Shaq than Wade. But, I am talking for Miami right now, if they didn't have Wade, there is no way they would have won thirteen straight. If you were to choose a most valuable player for this season alone, I think Wade is the obvious candidate for the Heat.

Shaq most definately makes Wade a better player, but Wade is more valuable to that team as of late.

I think Wade does also. He is on the same team as Shaq which raises his playing ability where teams are concentrating on Shaq and leaving him open. This is good experience for Wade. When Shaq eventuallt retires Wade will be able to lead a teamand add more options to his game. Plus he's not caught up in all the drama Carmelo has been put through.

I was just thinking to myself, and I think a big reason Wade had such a big rookie year was he was not being compared with or competing with LeBron James like Carmelo Anthony was. That rookie season it was like a game-by-game battle between Anthony and James, and I think that put a lot of pressure on Anthony. Wade wasn't really under any spotlight his rookie year, which allowed him to just play basketball, without any drama surrounding him.

Wade is quicker off the dribble, Melo is stronger. I really like both of them but judging by their short careers, my choice is Wade, and of course it helps when one of your teammates is Shaq.

[IMG] But it's crazy to say Melo has done nothing but getting engaged. He had a game winning shot @ Celtics (pic)

and the Nuggets lost 6 straight without him in the lineup. Yesterday he made it back vs. Sixers and had two three pointers in a 10-0 fourth quarter run.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Anthony, who returned to the lineup after missing the past five games due to a left ankle sprain, hit two 3-pointers during a 10-0 surge, the second to tie the game, 79-79, with 7:07 left. Less than a minute later, he made another jumper and DerMarrJohnson's free throw gave Denver its first lead since the opening quarter, 82-81. </div>

Simply put, without him in the lineup, we would have been toast. He gives the team confidence, he makes it look easy, their teammates know he's got their backs. On the Nuggets, Melo IS SHAQ. On the other hand, Wade has always played in the pressure-less situation. That winning game jumper vs. Hornets in last year's first round playoffs was tight, but he was a rookie, nobody would have blamed him had he missed it, no pressure. On the Heat, the player who's got everybody's back is not Wade but Shaq. But having said this, Wade is a darn sensational player. I like him a lot but I just thought it was unjust to say Melo has done nothing this season because he's been carrying the Nuggets but Wade he helps Shaq carry the Heat, no pressure, again.

Wade definitely has the brighter looking future as of now, because he hasn't been in any tapes with drug dealers, or been accused of beating people up. Also D-Wade has Shaq on his team which will take him further than Marcus Camby for 'Melo. And hey Pure getting engaged to LaLa is a big deal LOL. Wade is a class act with a 500 grand smile, not a millon dollar smile like that of Lebron, and Wade gets the job done with the necessarry flash, or when it's not needed without it. Also it seems like Melo feels like he has to prove something every game, unlike where Wade feels that way on occasion, IMO.

Wade at this point. He has the maturity to do well. He does not have an ego at all. He is a team-first guy. What I like about Wade is that he plays defense. Melo is a good player, but he is not doing the little things right now and he needs to learn how to be a leader. I think that's one of the reason why Michael Cooper is the Nuggets coach. Cooper is one guy that has a good shot to relate Melo and get the most out of his talent.

Clearly, it's Wade. BUT, if Kiki continues to make moves to surround Mello with players that can do the OTHER things, he will be successful. And remember, Shaq was in LA last year when Wade was making a name for himself in the Playoffs.

Mello hurt his marketing power this past year and WILL NEVER get it back. Dwayne has defenitly supplanted him as the Number Two "Face of the Future" in the NBA behind LBJ.

On and Off the court, Wade
Everyone knows that Wade has a good attitude and he's humble. On the court, I think he's only gonna get better and better and he's already playing GREAT. No bashing on Melo tho he's great too and has that size advantage and jump shots. BUT I think in the future, even when Shaq retires, Wade is gonna have a great player or two because they'll want to play with him cuz he's got a nice attitude.

Last year I used to say Wade should be a bigger candidate for ROY, if not for the injuries, but everyone said it was a 2 man race, which it was, but Wade wasn't given the props he deserved till the playoffs when they saw what he could really do.

Carmelo has made no major improvments from last season, his defense is the same [not a good thing], his jumpshot is not where I thought it would be, his decision making is the same, and I don't think he's even improved statistically.

Wade is a more athletic player, that already gives you a good ceiling to have the superior athleticism, he makes good decisions, and has a better attitude. Wade was already miles ahead of Carmelo in terms of off-court things, and now has trampled him in on court skills and production on both ends.

Wade has Shaq, but look at him as a rookie he was still shooting a high percentage, if you watch him play, he just knows how to play, he's unstoppable one on one in terms of getting in the lane, and he knows how to finish. Even when Shaq isn't playing, or is out of the game, he plays even better sometimes because the team runs more and he benefits from that.

If Carmelo has Shaq, it wouldn't make him shoot a higher percentage, Shaq benefits the outside shooters the most, Carmelo is not that good an outside shooter, just decent. Right now Carmelo is showing that he's only a scorer, and he needs to get down on defense and let the game come to him more.

    Wow... very nice Question

    Wade

he has shaq... shaq is going to help his development into a future star... and when shaq leaves... its just wade. He will be able to prove who he is.

Melo on the other hand will be amazing, but wade just a little better
