dont u guys think that LeBron was better than Jordan at the age of 20 and this could maybe just MAYBE LeBron can become better then The Great one i think Jordan was in college at this time as a Sophmore (thats the season after the great shot)
i dont think its comparable, Jordan is playing in college level while James is playing in a professional level wait till later than maybe it will be comparable. Even though LeBron has pretty stats he doesnt play like Jordan. You see Jordans way of playing is a lot better than Bron.
well if LeBron was in college would he do better then jordan in college? i say he would of cuz Lebron avg 20,5,5 last year and now avg 24,7,7 this year image him in college right now i say 29,10,8 and 2 blocks (pts, reb, ast)
Wow, don't even say Lebron will be better than Jordan, especially when you use a 20 year old Jordan, which makes it unfair. You should have just used the 23 year old Jordan, who was in his 2nd year at that age like Lebron if you're going to try and argue that Lebron will be better.
If you are going to compare them..you have to do it 2nd year in the NBA, which you can't do with Jordan so you have to use Jordan's 1st or 3rd year... LeBron (year 2): 24.4 ppg, 7.2 apg, 7.0 rpg, 3.24 TO, 2.4 spg, 48% FG, 36% 3pt, and 76% FT Jordan (year 1): 28.2 ppg, 5.9 apg, 6.5 rpg, 3.55 TO, 2.39 spg, 51% FG, 17% 3pt, and 84% FT Jordan (year 3): 37.1 ppg, 4.6 apg, 5.2 rpg, 3.32 TO, 2.88 spg, 48% FG, 18% 3pt, and 86% FT I am taking Jordan in his first year over LeBron now...college experience or none...28.2 ppg for a rookie is just amazing, let alone 37.1 ppg in his 2nd full season of playing...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Gee_Dupe11:</div><div class="quote_post">well if LeBron was in college would he do better then jordan in college? i say he would of cuz Lebron avg 20,5,5 last year and now avg 24,7,7 this year image him in college right now i say 29,10,8 and 2 blocks (pts,reb,ast)</div> Well, that's not an accurate assessment of statistics really. It's much harder to get assists in college due to the style of play. Almost every guard averages more assists in the NBA than they did in college. I would even argue its probably harder to score in college as well, considering if he averaged 29, he'd be scoring almost half of his teams points... In any event, like someone mentioned above, it's hard to compare a 20-year old NBA player in 2005 to a 20-year old college player in 1983. Also, espn.com recently did an article and in it, it compared Lebron to Magic at age 20, a much better comparison IMO ... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...oenfield/041230 <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Magic Johnson 1980 Los Angeles Lakers: 18.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 7.3 apg, 53% FG, All-Star Magic was a few months older than LeBron -- he turned 20 before the season started, but was spectacular in his rookie season after leaving Michigan State following his sophomore year. Yes, he had Kareem to help, but with Kareem out with an injured ankle in Game 6 of the 1980 Finals, the rookie point guard moved to center and scored 42 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Lakers to the title.</div>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting thisbejgz:</div><div class="quote_post">no one will ever be better than jordan, period</div> Lebron will be better than Jordan. Look at what he's done so far. He shows signs of being able to play the exact same style of game Jordan played. He gets his teammates involved and scores almost at will. He just needs more expereince in the leauge. Remember that this is only his second year in the leauge. He may not be as good as Michael was when he was 20 but when it's all said and done Lebron will be better.
I honestly think LeBron can be better than Jordan, but he won't be. Jordan is Jordan, you just can't replace him. When you say NBA the first thing you think is Jordan, that's just what he has done for the game. On the other hand, LeBron will go down as better than Kobe, so that means Kobe will never be close to Jordan.
I don't really think you can compare the two, I mean Lebron is a great player, but Jordan is well...Jordan, he's the best there ever was and ever will be...

I wasn't a NBA fan when Jordan was around, so I don't really know what kind of impact Jordan had on the league during the time. But I think it's possible that Lebron can put up better stats than MJ, but never be as "great" a player MJ can be.
I'm starting to get sick of hearing about LBJ and MJ. Does anyone realize that Dwayne Wade draws a more better comparision to Mj than LBJ does? Plus I'm starting to believe the Wade would be a better player than Lebron.
eh.. I think it's pointless to make these kind of comparisons (kobe vs. mj, wade vs. mj, lebron vs. mj)... if you're a MJ fan like me there WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER MJ, he will ALWAYS be the greatest, EVER... period. Why? call it personal preference. However to say another ballplayer won't be as good or better than MJ in terms of physical skills is just plain ignorance, we alreayd see Kobe is a great individual basketball player, he has refined moves and is probably a better shooter than MJ (NOT trying to start an argument, just making a point) but do I still think MJ is the greatest? hell yea. Though I love Lebron and how he is making his team better...he'd get my vote ofr MVP if cleveland keeps playing well, how many sophomores almost single handedly turned a bottome dweller into a playoff team? MJ in his earlier years wasn't able to do this either... but like I said, MJ will always be the greatest to me, his passion, his flair, the way he played the game... lemme make an analogy: for those of you who are absolutely in love w/ your fiancees/wives/long time gfs, chances are there will be someone better looking, or someone with better legs or ass out there somewhere, someone smarter, but it doesn't change the fact that you still think that she is the best right?
bah humbug. jordan (career) = Greatest.Of.Allllll.Time. but not a specific year -- that 2nd year where jordan put up those amazing numbers, he was the only option on that team. and i believe he watched most of the playoffs from home that year. and it took him a couple more years to get his 1st ring. lebron (now) = G.O.A.T. I.T (in training) lebron @ 20 >> jordan @ 20 lebron's career vs jordan's career? every indicator shows lbj could be better than jordan as a player. rings and team success relies on other factor. give the cavs a scottie pippen sidekick, the zen master coach, and some seasoning and you would see some rings flowing into cleveland for the first time since jim brown broke every rushing record 45 years ago.
LeBron is a better passer than Jordan was, and he's also stronger than Jordan at 20. I don't think LeBron will be as quick as Jordan was in his prime and have the same penetration abilities, but just his size and strength will allow him to score well inside. He needs to improve his jump shot quite a bit (particularly mid-range), though, and improve his defensive awareness to surpass Jordan. Don't know if it will happen, but he definitely has the potential to be the best. And I agree with the poster above who said Dwayne Wade is a better comparison to a young Jordan. Particularly now that he's playing SG, I think Wade's style is very reminiscent of Jordan. He's not the same focal point of the offense that Jordan was, and he's asked to create plays for others more, but the way he scores and the type of shots he takes is very Jordan-like, IMO.
Look at lebrons body at 20 compared to jordans body at 20... Anyway Lebron is better then MJ at any age, sure maybe his PPG isnt that great but take a look, right now his avg is 25 ppg 7 rebs 7 assists. at 20 years old. MJ did that only ONCE and that was when he was 25 ( i belive his avg was 32 ppg 8 rebs and 7 assists ) Lebrons doing it at bearly 20 years old Mj did it when he was 25 and a half. Plus , Lebron IS a better rebounder, theres no doubt bout that and lebron dosent have a , scottie pippen , or a Shaq , and he still avarages 7.1 apg .
