Should the Nets trade Jason Kidd, Vince Carter or Richard Jefferson for a big man? I was thinking about this and it seemed like a good idea. If we just trade one of our stars, we would still have a good back court and improve or front court at the same time. What do you guys think about changing our trio to a duo for a better front court?
I doubt anyone of them gets traded. Iam not for sure the same teams that were interested in Kidd before he came back are still interested. I think his trade value may have decreased a little bit since his return. But if Denver is willing to give up Miller/Nene and some filler, I probably would do it. Other than Denver no team has much to offer us in a trade for Kidd to make it worth wild. Carter wont or cant be traded again anytime soon. And trading Richard Jefferson is out of the question, he is the better all-around wing player, he is the youngest of the trio and has the most potential to get better. I think trading away Richard Jefferson would be the worst mistake the Nets could make even worst then letting Martin go.
Yeah Richard Jefferson is the future of this squad. When Kidd and Carter get older we will be depending on Jefferson to be winning us games. If he is gone then this team won't be good in the future because pretty soon, Kidd and Carter will be out of the league.
I am sure Portland wont do this, but if they got Abdur-Rahim for him they would be a much better team and can go farther than they would had Kidd been around. Yes he is a good PG but, the way Best is playing, Kidd wont be missed as much. They will have a low post threat, a decent but, young Kristic, Jefferson at the 3 Carter playing the off guard, and the floor general can be best. The Nets will have 3 great players and I think Shareef is an All-Star, and Carter is one too and Jefferson will become one this season probably. Like Henacy said, trading Jefferson will be a very foolish move. Unless they can get equal or more value. But, anyone else is probably not as good a fit as Richard Jefferson. He is dedicated, (signed longer with the Nets), hard working (that 3 point shot is from horrible to decent) and has become more of a leader. Not many players in the league are like that. Also what big man could you possibly get that is at Jefferson's level on the court/and off(work ethic wise)? Not many if any.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Yes he is a good PG but, the way Best is playing, Kidd wont be missed as much.</div> Are you serious? I'm a big fan of Best, but Kidd is seriously ten times better. Kidd doesn't look to score each time he gets the ball like Best does. He also plays better defense and Jefferson handles the ball less. I also doubt Portland take it because they already have Damon, Nick, and Sebatian. Too much to lose just for a medoicre chronic losing player.
I never said Kidd was better than Best or it wont make an impact at all. I said Best at the PG spot will be a downgrade from Kidd, but the way he is playing now as a Net, the Nets wont miss him as much as maybe they think. I forgot about that PG glut but, if Portland didn't have all of them, if they traded Kidd for Abdur Rahim, it might turn out as a pretty good trade.
I personally feel as though The Nets will go nowhere in the playoffs without a low post presense, currently they don't have a player nearly as talented as Kenyon Martin. Jason Kidd's time may be limited, he is becoming an older guard, and at the point postion and given the style of game he plays, he may age quicker than the average NBA player. So the way I see things, It would be in The Net's best interest to make a move, I would continue talks with Portland about moving Vince Carter. Perhaps Carter and some draft selections for Darius Miles and Shareef Abdur Rahim. This trade would give The Nets a low post scoring option and another fast break scoring threat with Darius Miles running the open court with Kidd.
If we make a trade to the Blazers, I would hope we would be trading Jason Kidd. Kidd is older than Carter and it he is more prone to injury. Trading RJ is out of the question because he is the future (as we already said). If we could get Reef and Mile for Kidd and Draft Picks that would help us so much and I feel we would be a power in the East.
