With the Rockets on a three-game winning streak and 4 wins in their last 5 games, do you think they are ready to be the team that they were hyped out to be at the start of the season? They have been playing fantastic basketball of late and the duo of McGrady and Yao finally seem to be playing well, and the new players are beginning to get comfortable playing around Yao. Personally, I would not put a run out of the question. In our next game against Phoenix, I think that if we can win it convincingly, the team would be greatly boosted and would play their best for the next stretch of the season. I honestly think that we could go on a 6-10 game winning streak from here. Do you? If not, why?
Yes I think the Rockets are ready to roll, They need to beat the suns to prove to be a good team and they need to start winning some hard games but all the easy ones. Also Trip the Rockets had a 6-11 record before they beat the sixers, and then they won 10 games and lost 4 at that time. So if Rockets beat the Suns we could go on a 6 or longer winning streak
Suns Rockets should be a great game. Yao and Amare have a bit of a rivalry since Amare bumped Yao out of the rookie of the year award so its going to be interesting to see how Yao plays.
I'm still not convinced that this team can start rolling. They've yet to have a convincing win over a good team. The San Antonio win was obviously a miracle. Here are the teams we've beaten, at home and away: Home Sacramento 104-101(OT) Philadelphia 77-76 New Orleans 89-81 San Antonio 81-80 Atlanta 92-69 Golden State 100-83 Toronto 114-102 LA Clippers 96-79 Milwauke 105-90 Utah 99-80 Road Memphis 89-81 New Jersey 80-69 LA Clippers 91-86(OT) Portland 97-93 Cleveland 98-87 Only two wins at home have come against teams which are currently over 500: Sacramento and San Antonio. We needed overtime to beat Sacramento and we needed a miracle to beat San Antonio. Of our road wins, only Cleveland is over 500 and we fortunate to have LeBron miss the second half of that game. Until we start getting some real wins over good teams, we're not going to rise above mediocrity in my mind.
i believe the rockets are ready to roll. The aquisition of sura, wesley and co. have panned out really well for the rockets. all i believe the rockets are lacking at this point is a pure shooter and a definite point gaurd. But there three plus headed pointgaurd in wesley, barry, and sura has really sparked the rockets and allowed them to run the floor as they have needed to do since the begining of the season. i believe they are ready to roll. i'll definately be watching them. I saw a couple of highlights form there last game and they looked pretty convincing.
I do think so because sura wesley and barry seem to be playing well together and they havnt been teammates for very long so things should only get better. McGrady is playing as expected. Juwon and mo have stepped there game up. So the last thing houston needs is Yao to start dominating. His game did start to improve during the month of december but has been slowed down with the flu. Hopefully he can get healthy and finally start playing like he needs to be.
We're ready. We've been playing good basketball of late and McGrady is starting to show why he was the 2 time scoring champion. The new players came in and settled well and players are now stepping up.
I'll be honest with you, No, I don't think we will beat Phoenix and No I don't think we can go on a massive win streak, but I sure hope we do, but after looking at our upcoming schedule, I really can't see it happening...but hey most of the time I say we lose, we win, lets hope this is one of those situations
The last few games we've played were against mediocre teams. In addition to that, Yao was out in the last two which enabled McGrady and our guards to run the floor quick and play a fast transition game. However, with the addition of Yao, the strategy is obviously going to change to fit him in there, which might affect how we play against Phoenix. However, I do have some hope that maybe they might prevail over them. Maybe, just maybe Van Gundy understands that they would do alot better with the running game with the acquisition of Wesley and also that we have been doing great in the last two games with that strategy. If he understands this and fits Yao in there in a nice strategic way, Houston should be getting some more wins in there. Bottom line is however, we probably won't be ready to roll until we either beat Phoenix (probably won't happen) or some other good team such as San Antonio (McGrady's clutch performance doesn't cut it) or Seattle.
hmm yea... it seems so far yao hasn't really stepped up his game, and until he starts to play consistently and aggressively, I don't see the Rockets being more than a bottom play off team.
Also i was watching Fox 26 news and Van Gundy said he got a new system with the rockets and he said sura will usually start scoring at least 15 or more points a game and he changed his system a few days ago and sura had 24 points
He said that. About time he relize's what was are flaws. We worried about defense way to much and 2 players couldn't do it themselves.
Upcoming schedule for this month is a challenging one. Though it's hard not to be pessimistic, I still believe that the Rockets will somehow rebound this month provided they play with the same intensity. I think they thrive best on the running game without sacrificing much of their defense on the other end. Running game not only increases fastbreak points but also make the Rockets unpredictable on their offensive set-ups. Limiting Steve Nash's assists and defending well against Amare would be an assignment for the next game. I also hope Mutombo will try to do his tricks again just like what he did to Stromile Swift blocking three consecutive shots of his during their first meeting. Yao and Mutombo should have their pride not to be dunked on by Amare. It's one of the reason why the Suns find it easy to outscore their opponents. I mean lots of easy shots for them. We may not be able to matched-up their athleticism with the exception of our own TMac but being smart enough and be agressive would somehow neutralize them. Like most of us said, I hoping that the Rockets win this one not only thru miracle but hardwork. Learn how the Spurs did the trick. I think a victory in the next game will boost the Rockets' confidence.
As a fan of both teams, I have to say that the Rockets have no chance against the Suns. The game will not be close, but no shame the Suns are the best team in the league. Hopefully it doesn't kill our momentum
Contrary to what everyone's saying, I actually think that we would stand a better chance if we play the slow, half-court JVG style rather than try to run with an athletic team such as the Suns... We're not as athletic as the Suns and if we try to beat them in a run and gun game, we'd lose.
If we beat the suns im going to stab my self continous times until I beileve we actually beat the suns, suns could actually make history by having the most wins in a season for how theyre going
