    according to realgm.com:

The Phoenix Suns today acquired two future second-round draft picks from Golden State in exchange for second-year forward Zarko Cabarkapa.

To take his place on the active roster, the team activated center Jake Voskuhl, who will be in uniform for Tuesday's game vs. Minnesota at the Target Center.

The Suns will receive from Golden State a conditional 2005 second-round pick and an unconditional 2009 second-round pick.

Cabarkapa, a 6-11, 225-pound forward from Serbia & Montenegro, was selected by the Suns with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft and averaged 4.1 points and 2.0 rebounds in 11.2 minutes in 52 career games with Phoenix. In three appearances this season, he averaged 3.0 points and 1.0 rebound. He spent the first 17 games of the 2004-05 season on the injured list (left knee tendinitis) before he was activated on December 7.

Voskuhl missed the last 11 games and was placed on the injured list on Dec. 10 after appendectomy surgery earlier that morning. The 6-11, 255-pound center is averaging 2.0 points and 3.6 rebounds in 12.0 minutes in 13 games this season.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

from what i know of him he started well last year until he was forced to miss a lot of games due to a hard foul from fortson, and didn't look that great once he came back. he hasn't been able off the bench much this year.

    he's 23 years old.

In the thread I made the other day I noted that one way teams that aren't in big markets - like Sacramento, Utah, San Antonio - have built their rosters is by going out and getting international players and I think we can see the Warriors following that plan, with guys like Pietrus and Biedrins and now Cabarkapa.

A conditional 2005 draft pick and unconditional 2009 is not a big price tag if Cabarkapa can come in and contribute.

Pietrus was such a good pick. St. Jean just saw he was a good athlete and had good potentail, and there is the guy who should start SF

Well I can't really comment to much on this because I know very little about the guy. I do remember that foul by Fortson though.

Where was the foul directed to?

What I remember of Carbakapa is that he used to be breaking out before the foul by Fortson. He has good three-point range, and can throw it down on the break. However, after the foul and the injury, he seems to have lost a lot of confidence in himself. When he gains it back, he'll be a more athletic Troy Murphy, which is quite a steal for the Warriors.

    His wrist.

Wrist hurts. And if Carbakapa is as good as you say he is, then we are all reved up and ready to make a run at the playoffs [IMG]

I think he used to be pretty good at taking the ball to the basket, though it's really hard to get a feel on him because he didn't play with much confidence after the injury, was injured and didn't make the Olympic team, and didn't play much for the Suns this year. Perhaps with a change a scenary and more minutes - which he should get - he can build his confidence back up.

And if he's as versatile as some suggest he should be able to play minutes at both forward positions.

As far as his shooting goes, I think he's a good shooter, but not from 3-point range. His nba stats are rather poor from outside. He shot below .200 last year, and hasn't attempted a three this year. I think this is a good thing, I'd much prefer him take it the basket and draw fouls and create some offense for a team that can get stagnant offensively. The Warriors don't need anymore players falling in love with shooting from behind the arc, even when they aren't going in.

Cabarkapa is a capable big man and the reports given by the members above reflect my general opinion of his skills. Definitely needs work, but as a trend, big men only get better as they age (unless they get injured often).

The main thing that interested me was that Cohan continues to go over the cap, only increasing salary with this trade. Mullin must really believe that Cabarkapa needs a shot and can produce now/soon. I'm still hoping to trade some of our dead weight away.

Like Davis or Foyle would be perfect to get rid of (although I like Foyle)

Wow, nice trade. I remember that Saint really wanted this kid in draft day, and actually thought about drafting him with 11th. And, two second rounders are not significant anyway. We do have Murphy and Biedrins to develop, but I hope we can fit him somehow as well...

Not only that but while the John Bender trade rumors were swirling around this summer, Mullin was also going after this Cabarkaba kid. Looks like he got who he wanted.
