    Just to add on to the Yao thing, his name is Yao Ming something. IF it was pronounced/arranged accordingto ENglish it would be Ming Yao. so, there you go.

    Just a general question:

    If you shoot and the ball hits the side of the backboard, is this out of bounds?

    What if it hits the top of the backboard?

    What if it goes over, but does not hit, the top of the backboard?

    Side of the backboard is not out of bounds.
    Top of the backboard is not out of bounds.
    If it goes over and does not touch ANYTHING at all it is not out of bounds.
    These are my understanding of the rules and that is how we ball down here so i assume its the same everywhere. I have played in some state tournaments and these rules have applied.
