Too bad, I kinda liked him http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/waive_sesay_010405.html January 3, 2005 Warriors Waive Ansu Sesay Forward Appeared In 16 Games With Warriors This Season The Golden State Warriors have waived forward Ansu Sesay, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced following this evening?s game versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Sesay, who signed as a free agent training camp invitee on October 4, 2004, appeared in 16 games this season with the Warriors, averaging 3.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 8.0 minutes per contest. In this evening?s contest versus the 76ers, he tallied four points, one rebound and one assist in 11 minutes.
Now you Sesay, now you don't. I actually thought there was no need to release somebody, since we placed Najera on the IR, and had an open spot for Zarko. I guess we will be activating Flores or Biedrins pretty soon...
He was a good bench player. Sucks. Now we have 8 guys avalible if Pietrus, Najera, or J-Rich cannot play.
He was a raw athlete, unfortunately not big enough to be a developing "big" nor handled the ball well enough to be a guard.
Yeah, he was pretty effective in limited minutes doing a lot of little things but not much more than that. And if the Warriors kept him past Wednesday, I think they would have had to pick up his contract for the rest of the year. Sean Lampley logged some decent minutes last year under similar circumstances, but players like that aren't really in the long term future of the team. In other news, Biedrins and Flores were activated today and Davis was put on the injured list.
Well who would you rather have? Zarko or Sesay? Zarko's upside is higher. Unfortunately, we probably lost one of our better defenders in the roster at that position. Pretty soon all opponents we face will score on average 110 points against us per game. Teams just don't fear taking the ball at us or shooting without fear of getting blocked and it kind of shows how small and soft our lineup is. The guys just play like wussies sometimes.
It's all about guarantee contract thinging. If we waive him now, we do now have to guarantee his contract. It sucks, but it happens all over NBA...
