Yeah, that's right. He deserves his own thread. I can't remember the last time that I've been so impressed by a Celtics rookie. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"><a href="http://www.bostonsportsmedia.com/" target="_blank">In fact, you may have noticed the Hornets' Baron Davis looking over at Doc Rivers in the fourth quarter and using some impromptu sign language to endorse the play of the extraordinarily fun-to-watch Allen. "Did the TV cameras pick that up? I'm not sure, but I hope so,'' Rivers said. "He turns to the bench and points at Tony Allen, and yells, `He has this,' while pointing at his heart. And that's awesome when you hear things like that, especially from someone like Baron Davis."</a> </div> (Quote from a Steve Buckley article.) You know what? I have a new favorite player.
aw mannnnn! i cant believe I didnt read that article. its about time someone gave some props to Tony. Wish there was a link somewhere to the whole article but we all konw that the Herald wont let you read its usually crappy columnists online without a subscription
whatever im sure the rest of it sucked anyway. Buckleys an idiot but thats awesome he decided to give Tony Allen cred. In this town when a columnist says your fun to watch thats a better endorsement than if they gaurentee youll win a n MVP and a ring. Goes to show the pathetic warpped standards of boston sportswriters overall. ANyways. Yes. The Tony Allen thread should be long lustrious. Im telling anyone who will listen this kid is going to be a superstar. Most people laugh but those people would also have laughed if I had said Amare was going to be a big star halfway thoruhg his first season, same with tony parker or ginobli. Tony Allen is going to be one of those big names that you look back and think "how could he not get drafted til THEN???"
Pretty cool article, that's awesome for the rook and the Celt fans. It should give them both major confidence and something to look forward to in the future. And yes I did hook up the TBanks avy for 44 ^^^^^ lol
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting olskoolFunktitude:</div><div class="quote_post">Tony Allen is going to be one of those big names that you look back and think "how could he not get drafted til THEN???"</div> I know your not high on West, but I think they'll be saying the same thing about him as well. Great late-round "steals" by Ainge.
WTF??? I love WEst!!! I went to the his first game in the NBA and couldnt believe he was ALREADY better than Banks! okay I wasnt that shocked. Its Banks who I think is useless. I dont think West has the dazzling athletisiscm of allen or the blazing speed of Banks but he has a few things that will gaurentee him to be a better NBA player: he has a brain and a heart and court vision. I think West could defenetly be the celtics PG of the future or at least a solid backup
My bad, OlSkool. For some reason I thought it was you, when it was really Iron Sheik, who compared West to "Joe Forte without the attitude"
I was always wondering how this kid was in the pros. I saw his 2nd to last college game at Oklahoma St. (the one against St. Joes) and I have to say that I was impressed with this kid. I am neighbors with a scout for the Denver Nuggets who took me to the game and he was very impressed, he said that his defence and quickness was amazing. He also mentioned to me his size (6'4") and athledic ability for a point guard/shooting guard was outstanding. In fact I saw two future Celtics in that game, Tony Allen and Delonte West who I thought should have stayed in school another year but thats another issue. I hope this kid keeps developing, he has a chance to be a real good player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Allen is the ninth Celtic to appear in the got milk? Rookie Challenge and the first since Joe Johnson appeared in the 2002 game. This season Allen is averaging 6.0 points, on 48.2 percent shooting from the field, to go along with 2.8 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game. Since being added to the Celtics starting lineup January 22 at Atlanta, he?s averaging 12.0 points, on 71.4 percent from the field, to go along with 3.7 rebounds in 22.0 minutes per game. ?I am honored to be considered one of the top rookies this season,? said Allen. ?This is a great start to my career and I know I have a lot more to accomplish. I look forward to representing the Boston Celtics, my teammates and fellow rookies Al Jefferson, Justin Reed and Delonte West.? </div> Celtics.com - Link It's great to see him get selected, but why not Big Al? I know he's injured, but he should have been named and then replaced. Also, does this raise the chances of him being in the dunk contest?

This way they can say "Look how bright the future of the league is, there were SNUBS in the rookie game!!" You know, if LeBron and Wade get called up into the big game I wonder if they will still play in the Rookie/Sophomore game. Maybe then Marcus will get the call up... but I doubt it.
