Yeah, Jermaine said he would be using the game yesterday, what a night to drop 55 points.

    Apparently he won't donate 55,000

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jermaine O'Neal will donate $1,000 to aid the tsunami victims in South Asia for every point he scores in Thursday's game at San Antonio.

After scoring 55 points against Milwaukee on Tuesday, his only regret was that he hadn't picked that game for his pledge.

"I wish I would have done it today before the game," O'Neal said after the Indiana Pacers' 116-99 win over the Bucks at Conseco Fieldhouse. "Obviously it's a devastating scene in Asia. It helps you realize how blessed you are."</div>

Great to hear it comig from these guys.
I encourage everyone on this board who is capable of making a donation to do so. It's very unfortunate what happened to those poor people.
We're very forunate to be living in a wealthy contenent (Canada, US) where famine, hunger and homelessness do not appear as huge issues. But a large and a shocking percentage of people in Southers and Eastern Asia don't have a place to live now because of Tsunami.

I hope all 7 players have great games scoring wise.

I've read that Mike Schumacher has given 10 million to the cause. I'm not sure about the NFL or MLB, but I doubt that the "cash strapped" NHL has given anything.

It's good to see that some of the NBA guys are giving to such a great cause. Hopefully more players are giving as well, even if it's not in such a public way. Way to go guys

I read on the Sportsline website that JO has eventually decided to donate 55,000 instead of the 32,000 he was supposed to donate (he scored 32 last night). What a class act.

Hmm, I didn't find that very funny, I actually thought it was quite immature and stupid, maybe I just can't find any humour about this whole incident...

There is your proof, so Big Zee is right. That is a very classy move by O'Neal.

Just for some perspective. President Bush has donated $10,000 of his own money. Sandra Bullock donated $1million of her's.

Although the President had plenty of cash beforehand, the President's position doesn't offer that great a salary. According to Infoplease.com, the President - in 2001 - made 400,000$, which is less than major executives for certain companies and a lot less than famous actors/actresses.

But that doesn't excuse his measly contribution - just a quick fac.
