<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A back specialist has recommended surgery for Vlade Divac, which would cost the Laker center about 12 weeks if he decides to have it done.

Divac, 36, will seek a second opinion today after a diagnostic exam revealed he had aggravated the same herniated disk that sidelined him for two months. If Divac opts for surgery, his targeted return would be the first week of April. The regular season ends April 20.

"Not good news," Laker Coach Rudy Tomjanovich said. "We're hoping for the best. The worst-case scenario would be we're still going to have a chance to get him back."

"It's tough for all of us," Tomjanovich said. "We all were excited to have Vlade a part of this team and what he can bring with his great passing and his experience. It's a setback."</div>

King's fans must be yucking it up watching Divac turnout to be nothing but an absolute bust for the Lakers. Surgery would cost the Lakers 12 WEEKS without Vlade, and he would not return until the final 8 games of the season. And even when he returns how effective would he actually be?

This is a blow to the Lakers team, because Vlade was supposed to be the player to give them an inside presence on offense and be the veteran playmaker on the court. The Lakers are lacking depth and size already, and losing Divac for the duration of the regular season impacts the Laker's playoff chances.

Yeah, I really thought he'd be good for the team...one reason why I predicted a Pacific title actually. But, now we only have Mihm, and about 50% of Grant.

I don't want to see Vlade's face next season...and probably not for the rest of this one, either. He almost reminds me of Karl Malone.

Vlade should just retire. I dont think he has any more flops left in him but thank you Vlade for what you did as a Laker. Is better to retire as a Laker thn a King, right?

Blessing in disguise, Chris Mihm is going to be a player if he can work on his game and keep himself out of foul trouble because that seems to be a major concern with him, or at least when he was in Boston...

It still is, he is non-existant on the road, his rebounding could use some work..but his confidence would sky rocket if he could just stay out of foul trouble...

Mihm is the future at the 5 for the Lakers. It would have been nice though to have Vlade and Chris go at it in practice. Chris would've learned a thing of two from the Vet. Hopefully we can get him back healthy for the playoffs. Nothing wrong with having another big man down low come playoff time, especially one of Vlade's calibre.

I'm with you on this Jesseca [IMG]...Anyways,Divac's back troubles were a big concern for the Kings, but the Kings still valued his leadership ablliity..But i think Divac wanted to come back, and end his career as a Laker. There's no doubt he's a great leader, but his best playing days are far behind him.and he probably will retire at the end of the season.after all the Lakers were his 1st team,so i think it's only fitting he retire as a Laker, rather than a King.

i was really looking forward to seeing Divac play. this means more playing time for Mihm if the surgery goes. hopefully Mihm uses his playing time to improve his game.

this is where the problem lies. I do the same thing on the SPURS board and the fans there get all on me about. Have something with content to say, or shut your damn trap.
