<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Among the possibilities now on the market is Fordham product Smush Parker, a point guard released this week by the Pistons. Or, if they're desperate for size with Michael Sweetney out, Derrick Coleman is also available, also having been released by the Pistons.</div> Bergen Record (registration required) I don't know if Derrick Coleman would be really pleased with New York. He is coming from a team where he only averaged 10 minutes a game. He can't get that many minutes in New York with how well Kurt Thomas and Mohammed have been playing. This will be a good move for assurance on Michael Sweetney but, how long will Sweetney be out? I don't think too long at all. When Sweetney comes back from his sprained ankle, what will happen to Coleman? Will he just sit and get the Baker treatment or whose minutes will he take. I think this might be some hard fouls we can use on Shaq. He is somewhat injury prone though. I guess we can always try and give him a 10 day contract or something and see how well he performs. I see Derrick Coleman being helpful for us as a veteran who can give a couple of tips to players like Mohammed and Sweetney. I think we should atleast offer him a chance and see if he can play decent for us. But, even if we do acquire him, it wont be a huge move just one used for assurance, and if we don't acquire him, it will be no biggie just a move to help while Sweetney is gone. As for Smush Parker, leave him. Moochie Norris has been playing well for us and has been a leader for the Knicks and B-Unit. Btw, B-Unit is what the Knicks bench decided to call themselves. Now back to the signing, the Knicks really don't need him. Even now with Crawford, Penny and Brewer unavailible, I still don't see him getting anymore than 10 minutes a game for the Knicks. What will happen once these players return? Parker will only be on the injuried list. To tell you the truth, I really see signing Smush Parker as a way to pay a player because there is extra room on the bench. Let Parker sign with another team that really needs a PG.
Why on Earth would we sign Derrick Coleman or Smush Parker?? We havent a use for them. Are we supposed to get them so they can whine and cry about minutes? No thank you. We have enough players to run the point and enough bigs. Besides six hard fouls to use on Shaq there isnt anything Derrick Coleman can give us. Let's just wait to get healthy. We're still leading the Atlantic and our injured players will be returning soon. No need to sign anyone else right now.

He was literally traeting them like little children. Shaq had an excellent game today one of his easier performances of the season. Maybe not right now Coleman will not be very effective however, in the playoffs Coleman can help out. Playing against Shaq, you need all the help you can get. If Derrick Coleman was content on playing a really small role for us, this signing can work out well for us however, if he is unhappy which he will probably be, it may not be the best choice for us.

I mean usually the Heat do alot of other stuff besides dump the ball down low. But every single time they came down the floor they gave Shaq the ball. It seemed as if the Heat were singling us out for special treatment. I dont even know when or where Wade scored his points. If were going to sign Coleman just to give six hard fouls on Shaq we should just sign Charles Oakley. A few of those patented flagrant fouls and Shaq will be too scored to enter the paint. I wish we had signed Kevin Willis(I think that's his name sorry but I'm not too good with names). He seemed to know what he was doing when he played Shaq.

I was thinking if the Knicks were more inferior in the frontcourt than we thought we were. Perhaps this was a game that Shaq was simply on fire. Either way I know is if the Knicks want to get better, they are going to have to find a way to counter Shaq. That FT thing that Portland did back in the western conference finals I thought was a great strategy but, proved to be ineffective. I also thought about what the Pistons did but, the Knicks just don't have that kind of defensive lock down team Detroit had last year. The Spurs beat them but, again the Knicks don't have a player at Duncan's level or a team like the Spurs did in '03. What can the Knicks do to go further? Do, we wait untill Ariza, Sweetney, and Crawford become the leagues best trio? Maybe this year, the Knicks surpassing that Miami hump is just not meant to be this year. All I know is we have at least a good future with these guys.
why not sign coleman? Very simply hes got to better than brundo sundov. That guy blows, you can't even feel comfortable putting him in the game. At least DC is a big body with a decent offensive game, he could give shaq some problems in pick and roll situations. Sign him to a 10 day contract if he sucks re sign sundov, im sure know one will pick him up.
