PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Kobe Bryant is no longer a fashion icon.

For the last month, Bryant's No. 8 Lakers jersey -- previously one of the best sellers in the world -- has fallen out of the top 50, according to point-of-sale data tabulated by a Florida market research firm.

Bryant's NBA jersey was still the 10th-highest selling jersey for the year, but he finished the month of December at No. 72 -- and in one week plunged to No. 90, a drastic slide for the player many once saw as the sport's next marketing golden boy.

Seems weird how it coud drop that badly. What can the reason be, I think its most because everyone allready has his jersey. Or that more people are buying Odoms, Carons and Divacs i dont know to tel you the truth. [IMG]

It's because of his reputation. Kobe Bryant is the devil now.

Hell, Nike doesn't even dare to advertise him anymore. They think he could tarnish their image.

Maybe parents want their kids to wear the jersey of an admirable athlete, one that is a good role model?

And Allen Iverson is the perfect role model right? [IMG]

...I am fine with this, I have no respect for Kobe off of the court...I could care less if people buy his jersey or not...

Yes, we all know the reason why his jersey hasn't been selling as of before....

Heck, I'm buying his jersey 'cause I wanna represent the Lakers, and the superstar on the court, not the person off the court.

Michael Jordan was a role model?

Yeah you're right... with all those affairs... what a role model.

There are many, many reasons for Kobe not selling his jerseys as well anymore. If he would have signed with say the Jazz or something then i'm sure he'd still be in the top ten. Everybody already has his jersey, and kobe is the devil. Simple.

What's with the people that want to bring Jordan into everything about Kobe lol.

Kobe's bad happenings were very public, so whatever, it happens. Also Iverson is respected because he's himself, he has "street cred", while Kobe doesn't.

People have Kobe's jersey anyways, he's been on LA for a while now.

With all of the negative publicity, what do you expect? Between BSPN and Shaq interviews, I hear a negative comment about Kobe everyday.

If you're referring to me, which you prolly are... as you can see, I was just agreeing that Jordan is the perfect role model. [IMG]

Nothing wrong with cheating on your wife, right Kobe? I mean Jordan. [IMG]

You seem to hate a lot of players, maybe your the problem?

This isn't really fare to Kobe because he isn't always the bad guy like everyone thinks he is. Give the man a break he has made some mistakes but eventually he'll grow from them and all these people will be coming back claiming they were Kobe fans all along.

I have respect for Kobe and have to of his jerseys's and I'm not going to change my mind and stop wearing them, just to hate a very good player.

    Totally irrelevant.

Jordan's affair became public much later in his playing career. Besides, the affair has nothing to do with Kobe's drop in jersey sales. If people were so turned off by it they would've stopped buying his jerseys last year rather than last month. If you actually read that article that has been linked to in this thread you might actually learn more as to why the sales have declined.

I read the article. I never said Jordans affair had anything to do with Kobe's drop in jersey sales, "if you actually read my posts then you might actually understand what I said."

I said Michael Jordan is a perfect role model because he cheated on his wife, just like Kobe. That's all.

Here i'll help you, my reasons i've posted for Kobe's jerseys not selling as nicely anymore:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It's because of his reputation. Kobe Bryant is the devil now.

Hell, Nike doesn't even dare to advertise him anymore. They think he could tarnish their image.</div>

    and,

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There are many, many reasons for Kobe not selling his jerseys as well anymore. That's all i've said about Kobe's jersey sales declining in this thread.

I guess you can say that saying Michael Jordan is a perfect role model was off-topic. I don't care. I'm entitled to my opinion, if someone says that Kobe cheated on his wife and he's no role model because of it, then if you ask me Michael Jordan shouldn't be one for the same reason. Did anyone say that that's why Kobe is no role model in this thread? I don't know. I don't care.

^Save it MidgetGiant... GiantMidget? It's impossible to make twelve year olds like you understand anything anyone types.

If you post you should contribute somehow, tell us why you think Kobe's jersey sales has declined. I'm eager to know what you think. Rather than just calling me a "kobe jock strap sniffer".

Which i'm not, but wow, I must be the devil to because I like Kobe. Even though he did cheat on his wife, but it's okay for Michael Jordan and over half the league to do it. I understand, it's you that doesn't.
