This is why I have little respect for VC. Yeah what he does for the community is great, but why would you be a fan of a player that is known to be a wussy and now confirmed the rumors that he doesn't play hard night in and night out?
You guys are funny hating Carter for admitting this. Come on now you couldn't figure this out when he was in Toronto? He had to admit it for you all to realize? And if you were on a team that didn't want you and you felt the same, would you really go out and play 100% each night? I love how everyone acts like such little angels on the pc and on this forum when they are probably like most people and think about themselves 1st.
I think McGrady can be a bit too blunt for his own good, sometimes. Surely, every all-star caliber player in the league is concerned with their image and stats to some extent. But not too many of them are as candid about it as McGrady. And he should be embarassed for dogging it last year. Maybe the Magic wouldn't have been so pitiful if he had committed himself fully to winning instead of just scoring a lot.

tmac was always lazy, he was even lazy when he was playing with vince, and when we were winning in toronto

The orgnization in the past 7 years has done everything and anything Vince wanted. They cherished every step he took even when it had nothing to do with the Raptors. He had as big of an impact in team management as any player could have had. He demanded that Alvin Williams, Jerome Williams and Antonio Davis get taken care of if they wanted him to consider resigning, and Glen Grunwald went out of his way to overpay all three just to keep Vince happy. Where did we go with this? 1 Playoff series victory?!! In 7 years??!!! It's was very clear to all of us here that he didn't give even 80% effort everynight in the last 2 1/2 seasons, specially at the beggining of this current season. We didn't need him to comeout and admit it since we knew it already (despite his constent denial). But the media here (as well as the NJ media when he got traded) has constantly asked him why he doesn't drive or if he's playing his best and giving it his all. And his answers always were that he's playing his game and putting on a 100% effort night in night out. And now just because it's on national television and you're being intrerviewed by a Hall Of Fame coach, you come out and admit it when in the past three years you've been denying it, I don't know what do you call that!
Just face it carter dint even wanna be in toronto and plus the general managers and coaches and staff wereing doing their job right so thats why carter dint play hard at all, he dint need 2.. now in NJ u see him.
He's a damn good player if he was that good without trying 100%. He's mprobably just trying to hype up the rivalry between nets and raptors, and impress his new team.

Explain to me how weren't they doing their job, and Vince was doing his? And you assume because Coaches and management didn't do their job that gives Vince the right to bail on his team??! Explain what you say. Don't just blurt out statements.

It's also a little farfetched... you can only fake to a certain extent. I mean, if he was faking injuries, someone on the medical staff would've come out way earlier - they've got nothing to lose - don't say he was bribing them or something. You can fake a headache or even a minor cramp, but not a muscle strain. They wouldn't tell the media that Vince had an injury if they hadn't diagnosed it. I'm more inclined to believe Charles Barkley who said that Vince was probably the kind of guy whose workout was basketball, and he wasn't lifting, etc. That would explain why he's so frequently injured.

When you are a player who doesnt go to the whole and suddenly does when you are traded from an organization that did almost anything to please you, that is cause for concern enough. There is no doubt all athletes should always give 100% each night, but you know that is impossible. Even so, Vince's amount of sub-100% games is inexcusable
What a pansy! Just because he could, he didn't?? What fucking sense does that make? He pretty much represented Canada in basketball, don't they have a memorial to him? T-Mac also confessed to this. It sucks seeing professionals not give it their best and not be dedicated to put the effort in, night in, night out. If i were in the NBA, I would be counting my blessings that I got to play basketball every night. I would play my hardest.
WHat are you talking about <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Need4Sheed:</div><div class="quote_post">You guys are funny hating Carter for admitting this. That is something lost in between College and the NBA mixed up in all the signing bonuses and 100 million dollar deals the very reason most of the players began to play, love of the game.
i have to admit i've lost respect for both players but i think i'll give them the chance to correct the mistakes maybe then they'll gain my respect again
Well in the real world you lose your job when you don't give 100%. I guess the NBA allows slackers to exist.....
In Tmac's case, I know many other players that would feel the same way, look at someone like Antione Walker, he's just padding his numbers on Atlanta, I mean in terms of on/off numbers, he's killing the team, but you shouldn't go out and say that, even if people know it, you shouldn't say it, especially in the manner Tmac did. Look at guys who get traded to a bad team and don't report. I mean watch Tmac play now and last season, he's playing good defense in Houston right now, and he's fired up and excited about playing, but really how many players would've been happy in that situation. Look at Drew Gooden, he didn't suddenly become good, anyone that had seen this guy before would know he could do this, just had no motivation in Orlando at all. He wasn't close to being the same high energy guy he was as a rookie, and is being again this year in Cleveland. Look at Rasheed Wallace last season in Detroit in comparison to when he was in Portland last season, he seemed like a totally different player. Remember Juwan Howard in Denver, breaking stuff because he hated the team? Let's get serious, if you win or are in a winning enviroment, you'll want to try more, it's more fun to play when you're winning, their's no players that get overly excited when their team is losing because if they did people would also then say they don't care about winning etc.. With Vince, he never said he didn't give 100% every night on the floor, he said "When I first came into the league, I took things for granted, and assumed I would be this energetic and athletic forever. I should have worked harder and focused more. Once the injuries came, I realized that it would take more than just pure talent to succeed, so I've worked on that." He admitted to not putting as much work as he should off the court which were could say for more than 50% of the players in the NBA, but never actually said he didn't put his all on the court. Now obviously he didn't give 100% on the court every night which was evident, but outside of energy players like a Jerome Williams, and some select guys, how many players in the league actually give 100% every night? Did Vince "slack" this year? I wouldn't say "slack", but I agree that he didn't go the EXTRA mile in his play, ie get fired up and excited, but he was always in the game, he always tried on offense, and the whole TEAM slacked off on defense so he wasn't alone in that. The Raps defense now is still garbage, and he was the only starter to have a positive PER, and considering he plays in the league's highest scoring position and wasn't scoring too much, that's not too bad. The biggest things were he wasn't fired up and leading the team like he should've, which would've equalled more wins for the Raptors, but what can you do? Vince and Tmac have said their piece, now it's up to them to change and give the effort, it they can, then more power to them...
