What was the worst trade ever made? I think when Wilt Chaimberlain was traded. More info: Traded from: San Francisco Warriors Traded to: Philadelphia 76ers Traded for: G Paul Neumann, C/F Connie Dierking, F Lee Shaffer and cash Trade date: Jan. 15, 1965 Or the Warriors trading the draft rights to Vince Carter for the draft rights to Antwan Jamsion.
The Wilt trade has to be the worst but Charles Barkley to the Suns for a bunch of busts was pretty bad as well. One more that pops into my head is Moses Malone for Jeff Ruland and Cliff Robinson. Another bad one was Scottie Pippen for Olden Polynice. Then of course there is the Nowitzki for Traylor draft rights trade that was mentioned in the Worst Draft Pick thread. Those are just a few....

Air Pietrus, it's a different Cliff Robinson. See http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/robincl01.html

As for the worst trade ever I'd have to go with the Nets trading away Dr. J to the 76ers for just $3 million.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Hurley23Handles:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe for Vlade Divac. Nuff Said.</div> It was not too bad. Kobe would have pulled off a Steve Francis and would have never signed any contract Charlotte offrered them.
imagine if there was restricted free-agency back then... Tmac would stillb in Toronto, Kobe in charlotte, things would b alot different
Kobe in charlotte? he was traded in his 1st year i thought...anyways jamison for carter wasn't that bad...was bad for g state imo...but not the worst trade in history by far

I was following everything very closely that year, and I don't recall hearing anything remotely close to that. As a matter of fact, I still have that draft on tape, and Kobe said he was excited to be a Hornet. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Air Pietrus:</div><div class="quote_post">the Warriors trading the draft rights to Vince Carter for the draft rights to Antwan Jamsion.</div> It's still debatable which player is better, so that deal wasn't that bad

As a matter of fact, I still have that draft on tape, and Kobe said he was excited to be a Hornet. </div> WRONG. Kobe was a Laker days before the Draft took place. There were rumblings about the Nets possibly taking him, but then a story was leaked that stated Kobe WOULD NOT commit to any team BUT the Lakers. This not only scared off the Nets, but other teams as well. Team Kobe denied this, but it was reported EVERYWHERE that a few teams took him off their draft boards because of the leaked story. I, too, remember Kobe saying he was excited to be a Hornet, but it was only in line with what was being spun in the few days prior to the Draft. I even remember hearing a story after the trade was reported. I'm not sure if it WAS the Draft, or maybe the post-Draft wrap-up that followed, but it was a national show. The was said that the Nets DID NOT select Kobe because someone from Team Kobe came to them and told them that a deal was already worked out with another team and that if they used their draft pick on him, it would turn ugly. This was a HUGE story heading into the Draft, I can't see how you missed it. Oh yeah, Brad Miller for Ron Mercer and Scott Pollard. Peace.
