<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JiggidyJames:</div><div class="quote_post">WRONG. Kobe was a Laker days before the Draft took place. There were rumblings about the Nets possibly taking him, but then a story was leaked that stated Kobe WOULD NOT commit to any team BUT the Lakers. This not only scared off the Nets, but other teams as well. Team Kobe denied this, but it was reported EVERYWHERE that a few teams took him off their draft boards because of the leaked story. I, too, remember Kobe saying he was excited to be a Hornet, but it was only in line with what was being spun in the few days prior to the Draft. I even remember hearing a story after the trade was reported. I'm not sure if it WAS the Draft, or maybe the post-Draft wrap-up that followed, but it was a national show. The was said that the Nets DID NOT select Kobe because someone from Team Kobe came to them and told them that a deal was already worked out with another team and that if they used their draft pick on him, it would turn ugly. This was a HUGE story heading into the Draft, I can't see how you missed it. Oh yeah, Brad Miller for Ron Mercer and Scott Pollard. Peace.</div> Yeah. Guys are always required to say that they are excited to play for this team or that team by the management. NVE did it for the Dubs, did he mean it? No! Good post their man
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Red Bull:</div><div class="quote_post">Ron Harper to the Clippers Danny Ferry to the Cavaliers</div> Defenitly a bad trade

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chungster:</div><div class="quote_post">Tracy McGrady for a 1st round pick The Raptors would have won a championship by now...</div> wrong and wrong t-mac was a free agent...we're lucky we got anything. one of the worst trades was on draft day sonics trade scottie pippen to the bulls for olden polynice
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Air Pietrus:</div><div class="quote_post">^You hit it. Look what would've happened had the Bulls not gotten Pippen</div> The Bulls would have won those titles anyway. MJ is reason 1 through 999.
Worst trade ever was the draft rights trade from Dirk Nowitzki for Tractor Traylor. I'm not sure on this, but I think that Pat Garrity was also in the trade for Tractor Traylor. You can go on and on about Magic trades being awful. Matt Harpring(15 ppg) for Andrew Declerq(worst player in the NBA). Corey Maggette and Keyon Dooling for cash. The Drew Gooden, Steven Hunter, and Anderson Vareajo for Tony Battie. The list goes on and on. The alltime worst Magic trade though is with the Suns. We traded Bo Outlaw and a 1st round draft pick for Jud Beuchler. With the first rounder, the Suns selected Amare Stoudemire. I don't know much about the old time trades though, so these are the worst trades to my memory.
Thought I'd throw in Washington's blunders..... Ben Wallace to Orlando for Ike Austin Chris Webber to Sacto for Mitch Richmond Richard Hamilton to Detroit for Jerry Stackhouse Rasheed Wallace to Portland for Rod Strickland We have nothing to show for those trades except we got Jamison (Stack trade)
How about this one? Rockets traded three of the picks for the right to get Eddie Griffin. Those picks were sent to the Nets as the Nets got Richard Jefferson, Jason Collins, and Brandon Armstrong. RJ is a good player. Collins is servicable. Armstrong did nothing, but ride the pine and be on the mysterious injured list for the Nets. Still two out of three picks were not bad while Griffin did nothing for the Rockets.
Kobe as the 13th draft pick was the first mistake, second was trading him from the Hornets to LA for Vlade Divac. Also dont forget that Toronto had Tracy McGrady and Amare Stoudemaire. Look at it and they couldve had: C-Amare Stoudemaire PF-Shawn Marion SF-Vince Carter SG-Tracy McGrady PG-Jason Kidd or even Stephan Marbury IMAGINE BEING KIDD AND HAVIN THOSE 4 GUYS RUNNING THE FAST BREAK WITH U. IF U DONT LIKE THAT, U DONT LIKE NBA BASKETBALL!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting J-Rich23:</div><div class="quote_post">What was the worst trade ever made? I think when Wilt Chaimberlain was traded. More info: Traded from: San Francisco Warriors Traded to: Philadelphia 76ers Traded for: G Paul Neumann, C/F Connie Dierking, F Lee Shaffer and cash Trade date: Jan. 15, 1965 Or the Warriors trading the draft rights to Vince Carter for the draft rights to Antwan Jamsion.</div> This is a bad trade unless your a Sixers fan. Then it rocks!!!
