imo, Hoffa can become a player similar to Brad Miller...great passing, can shoot from the mid range area, and has that toughness to bang inside... Bosh can be as good as he wants imo, i think he'll become a similar player to KG (not nearly as good) or J'Oneal. We have Alston at the point, and if Alvin can come back healthy..he'll be a great addition to our zoo crew. We also have Mo Pete...who is beginning to show some signs of consistency. If we can tarde away Jalen and Donyell for some cap relief or a few good role players.... And then we have our draft picks....from ourselves and the trade with New Jersey. I know this all sounds very optimistic...but our future looks bright...anyone agree?

We have two first round picks this year and I'm hoping we can draft both John Gilchrist and Gerrald Green - Gilchrist as the future pointguard to replace Alston and Gerrald Green as starting off-guard or small forward. We do need to trade Jalen and Marshall, hopefully to a contender because they've done their parts in this team and they deserve some dignity to retire with (hopefully it'll be a ring for both of 'em) Here's the contract situation: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Toronto Raptors Date # of total Player signed years salary misc FA Matt Bonner ........... 9/20/04 1 minimum '05 Donyell Marshall ...... 8/16/02 3 $14,998,500 '05 Milt Palacio .......... 7/16/03 2 minimum '05 Aaron Williams ........ 8/5/00 6 $17 million p-opt '05 Lamond Murray ......... 8/4/99 7 $25 million '06 Pape Sow .............. 10/4/04 2 minimum t-opt '06 Alvin Williams ........ 7/20/01 7 $42 million p-opt '06 Eric Williams ......... 8/6/04 3 $12 million p-opt '06 Loren Woods ........... 8/18/04 2 $1.5 million '06 Chris Bosh ............ 7/8/03 4 $13,624,260 rc t-opt '07 Alonzo Mourning ....... 7/16/03 4 $22,618,200 '07 Morris Peterson ....... 7/30/04 3 $13.5 million '07 Jalen Rose ............ 8/2/00 7 $92.88 million '07 Rafael Araujo ......... 7/3/04 4 $9,763,574 rc t-opt '08 Rafer Alston .......... 7/14/04 6 $26.25 million '10 </div> 1. We need to do something with Alonzo Mourning. 2. We need to trade Donyell Marshall and Jalen Rose. 3. We need to lock up Matt Bonner after this season (he'll replace Marshall as the first big man off the bench). 4. Milt Palacio's contract expires at the end of the season, I don't see the Raps resigning him. 5. If Milt isn't resigned, we need to pick a young point guard from the draft to back up Alston and to start after Alston ages, hopefully it will be John Gilchrist. 6. Aaron Williams' contract expires this season but he has a player option for 05-06, I hope he doesn't pick it up or the Raps work out some sort of a deal because he's not doing much. 7. I'd love to see Babcock draft Gerrald Green. 8. If he does draft Green, then we'll need to trade either Lamond Murray or Eric Williams because the 3 spot would be crowded with players that all deserve playing time. (Mo, Green, Murray and Williams) 9. I don't know what we can do with Loren Woods. He doesn't look too happy not getting to play and he's signed until the end of 05-06. Maybe we can trade him for a second round pick? 10. Pape Sow is locked up until the end of 05-06 if Babcock picks up the team option. He'll be a nice backup centre. 11. The 05-06 roster as I hope: C: Rafael Araujo PF: Chris Bosh SF: Morris Peterson SG: Gerrald Green PG: Rafer Alston 6: Matt Bonner 7: John Gilchrist 8: Lamond Murray or Eric Williams 9: Pape Sow 10: Alvin Williams 11,12, 13: Whoever we get from Rose/Marshall trade 14: Aaron Williams? 15: Loren Woods?
John Gilchrist??? Gerald Green??? C'mon now... be serious. Next year being it the Draft of the Bigmen, with so many talented, proven bigmen, and bigmen with so much upside, we can snatch a great guard at a mid pick. Someone along the lines of Rashad Mccants who would be a great fit for us. His athletiscm... everything he brings to the table. He's got so much talent and upside. Just imagine: PG- Alston SG- McCants SF- Peterson PF- Bosh C- Arajuo With a great bench, of Alvin Williams, Eric Williams, Matt Bonner, Loren Woods, Lamond Murray and some players that we get from Jalen and Donyell.' Hopefully we draft a good 2 guard in this years draft.... we need it.
mccants looks pretty good, but i really think the raps should draft hakim warrick, and a point guard. our PG situation is a little too shakey right now. williams is too injury prone, and palacio isnt dependable. id love to have a hot young prospect off the bench at pg. pg - rafer sg - mo pete sf - warrick pf - bosh c - araujo plus we wont have eric williams next year...he's a free agent, and i dont see him resigning here. lammond wants more minutes too, so i wouldnt be surprised if he goes someplace along with donyell and jalen.
I really don't follow college basketball all that much. I can only tell you a couple of big name players and that's about it. Nothing other than that. About the Raptors future I think it really looks bright. They have a nice young, all rookie first team selection. Once Bosh hits they weight room this summer, he will be an excellent player. I would say maybe he could average some pretty good numbers this year. The Raptors also have 3 first round draft picks. They could draft another Chris Bosh (I'm talking about talent wise.) The Raptors are not far over the cap like the Knicks and unable to sign any decent free agents. This is a rebuilding process for Toronto now and the way it looks now, they could be a pretty good team to watch out for in the next couple of years. The Raptors future looks very bright. At least to me it does.
I'd love for the Raps to get an athletic PF who can play SF. Hakim Warrick or Wayne Simien would be great.
Draft! That's what I'm waiting for, for the Raps. We need a SG/SF. Get McCants if he's there at our pick, no questions ask, just do it. If McCants is gone, get Warrick if available. We have 2 picks this year, so we have to use them right. I would like to see us get a point as well, like Gilchrist, Louis Williams or Felton.
^I thought we had 3 picks this season? Denver, Philly's and ours? Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not too sure. Right now I'm loving our future and I dont' want to give up games but I want the Raptors to get a good lottery pick this season to go along with Denver and Philly's which should be mid-round. I don't know much about the college or highschool players in this draft but if we use our picks to our advantage and don't search for immediate help through trades I likey our future very muchy.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CourtVision:</div><div class="quote_post">^I thought we had 3 picks this season? Denver, Philly's and ours? Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not too sure.</div> I think Denvers Pick is for '06. Maybe then, all the teams will somehow skip Oden, and we can get him
I think Denver's pick is for 2006, one of the 2 picks we got in the NJ trade is for 2006 I think. We shouldn't get overexcited over the picks we got in the trade, our prize pick is our own pick, the Denver and Philly picks will likely be between 10-20th pick, and more likely 15-20th pick. In the last 3 years, something like 30% of those picks have been starters, and 6% [2] have averaged 20 points or more. Keep our pick, keep on of these picks we have, and package the other one in a trade with Donyell Marshall.
our future is very bright maybe our future line-up best case scenerios PG-Alston/Williams/Palacio SG-McCants/MoPete SF-Warrick/Edubb/players from trade PF-Bosh/Bonner C-Aruajo/Woods/Williams pretty good team if you ask me
