PJ is injury prone and so is Baron. I don't think it would be nice to have them injure most of the time we have them. I my opnion, I'd rather have Speedy instead of Baron, Baron is injured a lot and can't shoot free throws. Speedy won't shoot the three all the time, is good at free throws, and is less selfish

i agree with ya .... that baron is a bit selfish .... and no question on injury prone as well....i also read on espn that a lot of injuries are do to poor conditioning in the off season...

but .... he is still a vast improvement over speedy..... he can break down a defense and find the open guy....speedy just breaks the defense down for his own shot....

baron also can put up a triple double at any time...and is quite explosive

i think that kind of player is what the fans need and could elevate the rest of the guys to a winning attitude.....

p j brown is a solid guy who quietly nears a double double every year....

obviously the guy also on the hornets block is magliore ....but he would command too much $ coupled with baron...

but imagine a lineup of :

    baron/fish/flores
    j-rich, the towel
    pietrus, jackson, carbakapa
    murph,
    magliore, foyle. biedrins

jackson could back up j-rich as well and magliore/murph would be a nice inside outside combo

it is unrealistic due to contracts i think....

but baron davis/jackson for davis/speedy i have seen

next year's free agents dont give us much promise ..... nor does the draft....

we have two expiring contracts we need to move before the deadline

i was the guy that brought you calling cheaney "the towel"

    some others i thought of

    probably obvious : aluminum foyle......

perhaps we should call fisher "the mason" or "the matadoor" or "grenade" he is someimes close like in horse shoes but it dont count

Boy, Jackson would be pissed if he got traded back here. If we took him though, that would be good incentive for NO to take a trade for Magloire or Baron.

Baron is injured frequently, but puts up a lot of minutes when he does play. We could have Flores back him up in limited minutes, and demote Fisher to the Jr. Jam Squad . That would make me happy. [IMG]

Fisher was a good player, but I think he gave up on us, he might score well, but he isn't doing smart things. Those 20 footers after just getting the ball, Icould list his mistakes all day.

Jr. Jam Squad? Hilarious. I think Fisher's got good skills, just not concept of how he's supposed to play now that Shaq and Kobe aren't there to push him along. Fisher and Pietrus need to work out a two man game or something because neither understand the 5 man game. Pietrus can create a little bit for a 2 guard who was labeled as being the same ballhandler that Jrich was and his court awareness looks a little bit improved.

ABSOLUTELY. Under Musselman we ran 2 man games until the cows came home. Dampier on the pick and roll, Cliff on the pick and fade. They have really lost that this season. They still run pick and fades for Murph and Cliff when they really need a shot, but it seems like Speedy is the only one that sets it up.

Speedy, Fisher, Dunleavy, Pietrus, and Richardson should run a mix of pick and rolls/fades with Murph at least every other time they get down the court. In my opinion, Murphy could be so much more of a weapon with this sort of strategy, and running the offense through him would lead to open shots and drives for the rest of the team.

That sounds good, I just think that Monty should dedicate extra time to help Fisher and Pietrus understand the offense

Coming into this season Chris Mullin believed the Warriors would make the playoffs and one of the reasons he signed Fisher was for his playoff experience. The Warriors are a far cry from making the playoffs this season, but I don't think they should dismantle this team and REBUILD again. The Warriors need to get out of the mindset of constantly rebuilding, and focus more on reloading. The Warriors need to have more patience with their young players and allow the team a few seasons to put things together. Just take a look at the success the Washington Warriors are having with Arenas, Jamison, and Hughes. They started playing great basketball once they got a chance to play healthy and buy into Eddie Jordan's system.

I don't see any reason why the Warriors cannot turn around this team once it gets healthy and buys into Montgomery's system. The man knows how to coach and more importantly he knows how to win. Looking up and down the Warriors roster, they are two deep at each position and have a good mix of young players and veterans. The only area they could improve is adding an athletic big man who can block shots. For example, a Tyson Chandler, Samuel Dalembert, Stromile Swift or Marcus Camby. The Warriors struggle against the premiere power forwards because they don't really have an athletic, physical big man. Murphy likes playing more on the perimeter, Uncle Cliffy is light in the backside and doesn't have the ups anymore, Foyle & Davis, don't have the footspeed to guard a Duncan, KG, Webber, or Amare.

Other than adding a quick, athletic, shotblocker, I don't see any major additions needed for this team. I like the backcourt of Speedy and Fisher, I think J-Rich is capable of being their go-to player, with Chaeney giving solid bench minutes, and the combination of Pietrus & Dunleavy is solid at the three spot.

I think the Warriors should make a move to trade Murphy & Dale Davis to fill the void at PF.

^ I would not trade Murphy. He's to valuable to the team. He is our only rebounder and is a great shooter and no one plays D on him. Also he and J-Rich are like the Warriors Pippen/ Jordan

Murphy might be the Warriors rebounding force, but they have the players to step up to match the boards he gets and the player they get in the trade would likely become their rebounding leader. At one time Danny Fortson was grabbing all the boards for the Warriors, last season Dampier was their rebounding leader, both are gone. Murphy is a decent player, but he takes a lot of shots and does not make an impact for the Warriors on defense. He's playing the toughest position in the Western Conference, and he cannot hold his own offensively or defensively against any of the premiere Power Forwards in the West. Murphy is not an efficient player, and when you have guys like J-Rich, Pietrus, Dunleavey, and Speedy taking a lot of shots and being more than capable of carrying the scoring load, he becomes expendable. The Warrriors need to trade some offense for defense and the area they are hurting at the most is in the power forward spot.

I really hope the comparison of Jordan & Pippen to JRich & Murphy is not the overall consensus of any Warriors fan. Jordan & Pippen played defense and offense consistently. Something neither JRich or Murphy do.

^What I meant is that J-Rich and Murph are vital to the Warriors and they can't win wihtout them

I seem to recall Troy Murphy being injured for the majority of the year last season. And the Warriors had a much better record last year then they are on pace to have this season. So to say they cannot win with Murphy doesn't quite add up. [IMG]

^Murphy was the Warriors centerpiece while J-Rich was gone. Without him, we would have blowout after blowout

In one hand, we desperately need a inside presence, such as defense rebound, block, and inside offense/defense. And, it's much easier for us to get a stud PF than stud center. So, Murphy can be replaced if we finds a PF with inside presence.

In other hand, if we need to change one player from current line up, it should be Dunleavy not Murphy. I will observe Dunleavy very closely for next few games, because so far, Richardson and Dunleavy didn't coexist very well. Both Richardson and Dunleavy are creator and when Richardson was out, Dunleavy's number shot up and stayed effective throughout the game because he was able to touch the ball a lot more. For example, during 9 game stretch, he only had one sub 35 mins game. But, when Richardson was back last night, Dunleavy's touch decreased substantly, and consequently, Dunleavy disappeared and played only 22 mins. In contrast, Murphy really doesn't need to handle the ball for 10 seconds to be effective. He is more effective by supporting a creator like Richardson. Also, while Murphy can at least hold his own in defense, Dunleavy is busy handing out free pass. Moreover, Murphy is 4th at rebounding but we are 17th at overall rebounding, including last at defense rebounding. I really fear what will happen with our rebounding if we lose Murphy. Sure, we survived last year without Murphy, but then we had Dampier back then. Since, Dampier is virtually irreplacable, we have to hold onto whatever we have.

The bottom line is that both Murphy and Richardson works great, while Dunleavy seems to fade when Richardson is effective, not to mention Murphy is virtually untradable for next couple years. We will see what will be available in the future...

I don't think Dunleavy can play for the Warriors. I know that once he's gone he's gonna be the next Hughes and that we could get something good for him because Dunleavy will blossom on another team, but Mullin will take the crap trade that puts us in the next phase of salary cap hell

We could get something good since GM's think he has a good three and his veteran leadership which I admit he does have

That's what I noticed too. Dunleavy should go to the bench for 3 reasons.
1.) he gets to be the man on offense. 2.) he keeps the ball away from fisher's hands 3.) Because the franchise is building on Jrich and Murphy, we need to find players worthy of starting that can fill in the gaps and provide the type of things that Murphy and Jrich don't have in their game. Better help defenders, consistent outside shooters and more athletic players would be nice.

I was going to agree with Shapecity right up until he said to trade Murphy. I agree that we need to reload instead of rebuild, but trading Murphy is equivalent to rebuilding. Sure, last season he was hampered by injuries, but he hasn't shown any indication of lasting effects from them.

Dunleavy I am wishy-washy on. Like Kwan says, he creates well when he has the ball a lot, and we already have two other guys, JR and Speedy, who do that too. These guys need to learn how to work off of each other to have mutual success. If they aren't able to learn, eventually we will need to dump one if not two of these three guys. Money aside, if I had to keep one of them, right now it would be JR.

Now, moving onto the point about big men . . .
People have been coming down hard on Foyle this season (including myself), but the last few games he has started to look really good. Don't bother rushing to the box score if you didn't see him play, because blocks aside, he is not the guy who is going to give you big numbers. Shapecity, what kind of evidence are you using when you say that Foyle doesn't have the footspeed to guard Duncan, KG, or Webber? That is simply not true. He is not a lock down defender by any means, but he was running with Lamar Odom the other night, and that takes some good speed. Amare is much faster, but he is one of the fastest (if not the fastest) big men the league has ever seen.

As far as trades go, my brain started stirring when I heard the name Stromile Swift. I'm going to make a thread about him.
