Charles Rodgers, Roy Williams, and Mike Williams. I think they'll have a dominant offense this year with the WRs, Kevin Jones, and Marcus Pollard. The only problem might be Jeff Garcia. Does n e one think playoffs????????
Has Garcia been named the automatic starter? He hasn't been all that effective of late. Maybe hooking up with Mooch again will make a difference, but...
their defense is TERRIBLE, i dont think they come close to playoffs. They are morons how could u draft three WRs in the Top 10 three years in a row they are insane. Sure great offense. Can you name two people on their defense it sucks. Sure Dre Bly no one else. The Lions are morons and i would be royally pissed off if i were a Lions fan. Luckily i'm a Jets fan and i can be pissed at them instead. They could ahve drafted an impact LB like Derrick Johnson. idk they have no clue wat they are doing
Kenn: That's what I thought. I may not pay attention all the time, but I do pay attention... JETS: I thought we were taliking about the QB and the offense... My bad I guess... :noworry:
If you ask Matt Millen, he will say that this did effect the defense. He wants as many playmakers on offense as he can, which will keep the offensive drives going and keep the defense off the field. Sounds like a 99 Rams wannabe. I think Williams will be a good player, but it is certainly a risky BPA pick instead of a need.
Well, I am a big proponent of the BPA approach rather than need, especially when you have as many holes as the Lions do. However, if Millen thinks he is helping the offense sustain drives by having 3 big play ability guys at WR, he is greatly mistaken. Detroit is going to be an explosive offense with quick drives. The result is going to be more pressure on the defense. As far as that pick is concerned, even though I believe strongly in the BPA approach, I do think that sometimes you have to eliminate a position because you are so strong at it. WR is one position that Detroit is strong at...at this point, Mike Williams does not add that much value to the team.
What I dont understand, why did they make the pick in like 2 minutes. They should have entertained any and all trade offers, in this case you should take all 15 minutes.

As for BPA available, I can't say I am exactly one way or another. When you are an elite balance team, like the Patriots, it is almost all about BPA. However, when you have a lot of needs, you have to look at those needs, especially in the salary cap era. In the first couple rounds, many teams have to draft an impact player that will contribute sooner than later. I would love to be in the position to be a BPA guy, but I don't think that works all the time. I tend to address need a little more. Once I get passed the first couple rounds though, I change. Again, it depends on the situation and the team.

He is a good qb
i get overpassionate and say stupid things sometimes but i dont agree with their getting another WR. There were better people out there. I think they are on their way but u know getting Williams might have gotten them a little further away if u know wat i mean. They've got some promising guys on defense but they have a long way to go

They have some depth problems but that couldn't of been fixed with a first round pick. Every position on their D has a solid starter, the D line is great, The LBs have two young studs and a veteran in the middle, the safteys are much better then last year with the addition of kennedy, and bly and bryant are a good combo for corners but because of injuries they only played 7 games together last year. The D isn't the best in the league but it is good, their obviously will be injuries cuz its football, it just depends who gets injured and what position it is. They can deal with some not all. Plus drafting Williams makes the offense that much more dangerous. I know a good O and a bad D don't mix but a good O with an average D, especailly an average D that can stop the Run, does mix. The lions will be this years chargers
If the Lions can field all of their defensive starters for an entire season without having a M.A.S.H. unit, they would probably be an above average unit. They really have gotten screwed the past few years.
Here's how I think the Lions season will pan out. Charles Rogers breaks his collarbone again on the first snap of the regular season. After the first game of the 2005 season, Joey Harrington retires from football because he sucks, and he also wants follow in the footsteps of his idol, Yanni, and release a piano album. So then they turn to Jeff Garcia, but he ends up moving to Italy with his life long secret male lover, Bruno, where they live happily ever after. Looks like TO was right after all. After all of this, the FBI finds out that Mike Williams, and Roy Williams are the ones repsonsible for the disapperance of Jimmy Hoffa, so they end up spending the rest of their lives in jail. So to boost fan support, Matt Millen steps down as CEO, unretires, and becomes the Lions starting MLB. But by now, no fans are going to the games, and the Lions end up moving to Los Angeles. Tough break, Detroit.
