The Cowboys add the A train as a free agent. I figured Parcells would add a thunder back at some time into the mix.

The Cowboys have signed veteran free-agent running back Anthony Thomas to a one-year deal, said owner Jerry Jones. Terms were not released.

Thomas rushed for a career-high 1,183 yards as a rookie in 2001 and again topped the 1,000-yard plateau with 1,024 in 2003. The four-year veteran was the Bears' second-round pick in the 2001 draft out of Michigan.

He gained only 404 yards and averaged 3.3 yards per carry last season in limited duty behind Thomas Jones, the brother of Cowboys' starting running back Julius Jones.

Moving from behind one Jones brother to another... Smart play by the Cowboys, though, adding key depth to what was a "problem position" for them last year.

And so the Cowboys and Vikings continue their phenomenal offseason makeovers...

Freakin' Parcell's and his genius moves. Nice fit. I would guess that his carry average will go up with the play calling difference. Hard to run a long way when they all know that you are getting the ball in the middle of the line.

I agree. For a rookie, I think a 1000 yards rushing season is spectacular and trust me, it will improve!

that 1000 wasnt spactacular, but it was really good, not becuase it was a 1000, but how he did it....he lead the league in 4th quarter rushing yards that season and didnt have a single fumble....that allowed the Bears to close out several opponents in route to a 13-3 season....

The Boys are getting stacked, I think they may be able to pose a threat to philly for the division this year!

They should be competitive, but the divisional title is probably another year away yet.

The Cowboys waived running back ReShard Lee Tuesday with the signing of free agent Anthony Thomas becoming official. With Thomas joining Julius Jones and draft pick Marion Barber III, Lee became expendable.

"Things happen for a reason in life," said Lee's agent Harold Lewis. "Now he can maybe find a better situation."

In 2004, Lee led the Cowboys in kickoff returns with a 23.5-yard average and a long of 62 yards. He also had 27 carries for 128 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for five yards. Coach Bill Parcells was reluctant to play Lee more because he did not believe Lee was good enough picking up blitzes.
