January 13, 2005 - Bucks General Manager Larry Harris has provided an update on the condition of T.J. Ford, following consultation with team physicians and medical specialists. ?Despite making progress with his recovery, T.J. Ford will not play this season,? said Harris. ?His spinal cord bruise continues to improve but has not healed enough to allow him to play. In the meantime, T.J will continue his rehabilitation and will participate in non-basketball activities with the team.? During his rehabilitation period, Ford has been able to take part in cardiovascular training, weight work and core stabilization maintenance. He has attended practice sessions and most road trips with the team, but hasn?t taken part in basketball work. ?As we?ve said before, until T.J. is able to begin basketball-type activity, we will not attempt to put a timetable on his return to the playing court,? Harris concluded. ?We?re disappointed by the news, there?s no question,? said Head Coach Terry Porter. ?We miss having T.J. on the court, but we?re confident in going forward that he is going to be a big part of this organization for a long time.? ?I?m anxious to get back out on the court and being 100-percent ready is the first step in that process,? said Ford. ?I?ll continue to follow the direction from the doctors and the staff to help me reach my goal. ?I want to thank everyone, especially my family, for the support and encouragement during my recovery,? Ford added. ?It hasn?t been easy for me, but the support I?ve received here in Milwaukee has helped me a lot. Our fans are the best and I?m looking forward to playing again.? Ford, who sustained the injury in the fourth period of a home game against Minnesota on February 24, 2004, remains on the injured list with a bruised spinal cord. http://www.nba.com/bucks/news/Ford_Update_05113.html
This is really too bad for Milwaukee. TJ Ford was great especially for Texas. You know he was on his way to NBA stardom. He was always a good player and the Bucks could have really used his help this year. This one thing that I really hate to see. He was just doing his job playing ball and due to unfortunate circumstances, might not even play ball again. Let's all keep TJ Ford in our prayers. He definitely does not deserve this.
I figured this would happen. This is good for TJ, he can finally hear the end of the question "Will you play this season?". Now he gets to hear, "Will you ever play again." My answer to that, is I will bet #11 never sees the floor again. I hope I am dead wrong though. Get well soon TJ

In the meantime, T.J will continue his rehabilitation and will participate in non-basketball activities with the team.? this is really disheartening news but to know that his injury ins progressing instead of degressing is good news. I will be lookinfg forward to him having a recovery over the summer so that he might be able to play next year. or at least again in his career. I'm happy the the bucks have not given up hope on him yet though.
