There is some story about Clif Robinson getting traded possibly or something under the nba section on the Insider. Can someone post the story here?

I can try to find it for you, but I can't post the article. I can summarize the jist of it, though.

Man I hope we don't get rid of him for a lousy trade exception. We need more than that

East Rutherford, N.J. -- The NBA's trade deadline isn't until next month, but center Clifford Robinson has long been expecting his name to surface in discussions. It has in New Jersey.

The Nets have two trade exceptions worth $5 million and $10 million to use as bargaining chips, and have offered the former to Golden State in exchange for Robinson. Robinson has two years left on his contract and said the Warriors have told him they will not pick up their team option for 2005-06.

Given his contract status and veteran experience, Robinson said he appreciated his trade value, but won't allow the talks to distract him. The 15- year pro played in 14 consecutive postseasons before being shipped to Golden State last year.

"I'm sure there are a lot of teams out there who probably think I would be a help to their team," Robinson said. "That's not a bad thing at all. It's always nice to have options. I just do what I have to do for the rest of the year with this team, try to get us going."

I honestly don't think the warriors will do the deal unless they need the cap money to get a player that might help them in the long term.

You might want to put the article on quotes. How to do it is in the Eddy Curry Article Thread

Someone on some other board suggested a 3 way deal, but it depends on which team wants to nuke their franchise and just start over. One I've heard was for one of the Hornets players like Jim Jackson to fill in the role of "out for the season" Richard Jefferson and our Cliffy to play power forward. If I was the hornets I'd try to do something that's not involving the Nets or the Warriors if I'm not enthused about draft picks this year. I would try to do something about oft injured Baron Davis and Jamal Mashburn. I'd keep Magloire, not as a franchise player, but as a big center that will help your team stay competitive. If the clippers could package something like Wilcox, Livingston or Simmons that would a good change of pace for the Hornets. Making the contracts work is another story since clippers players are usually under short, cheap contracts or rookie salaries. Normally I would never think of trading an allstar within your own conference, but hey if the clippers could be screwed out of really good players they aren't going to plan on keeping anyway, might as well convince that Baron Davis, Maggette, Brand could be playoff material. Meanwhile, Livingston looks like money, Simmons isn't bad, you have JR Smith, Wilcox and then finally Magloire. I dunno what Elgin Baylor is going to do, but he probably might just do it if contracts work out. Maybe Air Pietrus can help me figure out which players need to be involved to get it working and to remove the frequently injured, salary cap hoggers. It definitely requires a third team I bet.

But hey who has the Dale Davis contract and Cliff Robinson and draft picks? Those make trades happen so long as we get something good in return. If Mully pulls something off that's newsworthy he's a hero again.

Cliffy is great, but he is not in our future with how old he is. He is a consumate pro and I appreciate him coming here and giving his all. Hopefully we trade him to a playoff team. He deserves it.

That is just crazy. Man those three guys are doing awesome and if the Hornets could get those guys for maybe a Jamal Mashburn and a draft pick or a B. Diddy and a draft pick that would be something serious. Those guys I would build a franchise around and I would still have J.R. Smith to help them out. I have never really been a big fan of Wilcox till this year when I saw him play. He is over-shadowed by Brand and he needs a starting spot somewhere... Maybe that spot is for the Hornets. Also, if they do trade away Baron they would be getting a young, talented, PG back by getting Livingston. Man this would really help the Hornets out... O Wait a Minute I think that if I was to go and play for the Hornets that would be an improvement, but nevermind.

^ Wilcox is in Dunleavy Sr's doghouse right now. Just get rid of him and Dunleavy Sr. will be happy

^ That gets me thinking: Clipper fans would probably not be in favor of a Dunleavy Jr. for Wilcox swap, but Dunleavy Sr. might try to push it through. That would be great for us.

^ This is true. Although, he would stack up pretty well against most true centers (like Cliff does) and give us some much needed back to the basket scoring.

^ You got a point. Cliff does do a great job. We should offer Dunleavy for him and they will think we are cuckoo at our offer and go for it. Wilcox is injured and they would think we are nuts to offer the oh so good Dunleavy *cough* for an injured man.

They need to get Wilcox. I am telling you that he will be awesome with the rotation of the Warriors.

Yeah that would be pretty dang crazy but it is Chris Wilcox man not Bobby Wilcox. That would be a team that is playoff bound.

Man I'd be upset that we didn't just trade down to get Wilcox in the first place. But then again the W's probably wanted Jr's coach dad that badly.
