He's saying a possible deal could go down. Minnesota Receives: Donyell Marshall Eddie Jones Toronto Receives: Penny Hardaway Miami Receives: Latrell Sprewell New York Knicks Receive: Jalen Rose --- Speculation right now, but your thoughts? I know I wouldn't mind that, because Pennys contract comes off the books after next year. We get a disgruntled Rose out, and his contract more importantly, and we ship Marsh out, who's obviously not part of our future.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CourtVision:</div><div class="quote_post">We can recieve a lot more for Marshall and Jalen. A lot more..........</div> I think so as well...but for Rose, this is the best thing I think we could get, unless you want Eddie Jones and Haslem who'll walk after this year.
^I wouldn't mind Eddie Jones in a Raptor uniform. But if this trade goes down then I think Rob Babcock really wants to tank the season totally. To give away a disgruntled Rose is one thing but to give up Rose AND Marshall for a washed up Hardaway is another. I don't see how this helps the Knicks either. They are just digging a hole for themselves with Rose's contract and it doesn't solve their main deficiency, which is defense (we all know about Rose's defence).
The one thing I think we can improve on is getting more for Marshall. Why not just swap Rose for Penny? We can get a lot more for a Marshall, we don't have to do this blockbuster deal.
^I agree. I mean I am all for getting rid of Rose but why give up Marshall?? He's coming off the books next season anyways so why bother to add him. One thing I think Babs might be doing is a Danny Ainge. Where he deliberately wants the Raptors to fail this season so they can get a good draft pick. Sounds logical IF this trade goes down.
Yea, I don't like that trade that much. We shouldn't just throw away this season like that. That trade only benefits Minnesota and Miami. NY and the Raps get screwed. We could basically do Penny for Jalen and it'd be the same trade. Not sure how the salaries would work though.
that trade is garbage. disgruntled and defensive siv or not...jalen is our top scorer, and donyell is our best trade bait...we're giving up both for an expiring contract?? good god i hope its just a rumor
I don't get it..... Miami gets an expiring contract in Sprewell and all they have to give up is Eddie Jones (a bad contract)??.... Raps should be the one getting Sprewell.... Plus I think Babcock is planning on trading Zo while paying for most (or all) of his remaining contract. Any rumour at this point should involve Zo.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">good god i hope its just a rumor</div> AMEN! Why would NY ever want Jalen Rose? The man is old, and his contract is horrible. The Knicks already have enough swing men why would we need another one? It makes no sense and hopefully just hopefully Isiah Thomas is not silly enough to pull the trigger on this one. No we are getting no production at the SF spot, but think about the future. That is what matters. If we get Rose, yes we might get immediately better, but again what will happen next season, and the season after? Nothing. If we trade away Penny we should do it next season when his contract will be expiring and you know how teams are nowadays with an expiring contract. Yes the Raptors will eventually get some big cap room but I honestly believe they can get something better giving up two legit players. Marshall and Rose are both starter caliber and I think just for some cap room is not enough. Maybe they should try and snag a pick or something. Are they really trying to rebuild that much? I think they might have been inspired by the Suns or something. Minnesota definitely gets the steal in this one. They get a legit combo forward, who can take Sprewell's place putting Wally at the 2. Eddie Jones, will be a good edition off the bench and Minnesota can use a spark off the bench with Jones' shooting. Or they can make Marshall a 6th man, put Wally at the 3 and Jones at the 2. They have so many arrangements to make! If this goes down for Minnesota, they will definitely be a better team no question especially with Sprewell being a headache in the locker room. I'm sure McHale does not want to hear that family joint again lol. Sprewell is a good player...even at his age. I should know, I do follow the Knicks. He plays defense plays with heart what's not to like about him? Well his off court situations and his attitude and stiff might turn a coach/GM/teammate/Stern/fan and the list goes on. I have not been following Miami all that much, but I heard Jones was really struggling. Sprewell is not as skilled in shooting the basketball as Jones, but he can bring offense too. Also Sprewell's defense will go along nicely with Wade, and Shaq. They will be more than solid defensively, and more than solid offensively. The only issue is his attitude. He does deserve a chance. NY gave him a chance, and look what happened. He turned out very big for us. This is a different situation because Sprewell is out of his prime, and is declining but now that he wont be a primary option, he can still turn out big. From a personal stand point as a Knicks fan, I wish this would not happpen because of Jalen Rose coming to New York. That contract is what really is killing me however, from a NBA fan and entertainment stand point, it will be a nice big blockbuster trade before the deadline. Is this like a serious discussion between the teams, or is it something that is light? Anyway, thanks for the info Banks.

The Knicks could make a major move this offseason and trade Penny for some real value. Arguably better than TT? I think that is a pretty well known fact!
damn this glichy site!!! my first message when i replied to you timed out...i hit 'back' on my browser, and realized that i left out that jalen would save you money THIS YEAR, cuz he's got more time on his deal... so i went back...made the edit...replied. that reply timed out too. i close the window..come back to the site, and turns out my first reply went through afterall!!! bah! lol anyways yea...i meant this season only lol
What a stupid trade this would be for us, all the multiple team trades involving the Raptors always have us getting raped.
