Four Way Trade In The Works?
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">According to TNT Analyst David Aldridge there has been talk of a four way trade involving Toronto, New York, Miami and Minnesota, four maximum sized contracts exchanging zip codes.

According to the report Minnesota would receive Heat guard Eddie Jones and Toronto forward Donyell Marshall, Miami would receive Wolf Latrell Sprewell, the Knicks would receive disgruntled guard Jalen Rose while the Raptors receive often injured guard Anfernee 'Penny' Hardaway, who has one less year remaining on his contract. </div>

Miami Heat and the Minnesota TimberWolves look like the winners here.

Personally I want some court time for Penny, so I am all for this trade.

I have heard this alot lately and if I am not mistaking their is already a thread about this, but I will post anyway.

Minnesota would come out like bandits here. They would be getting rid of a disgruntled SG in Latrell and they would be getting a decent PF and a nice SG in Eddie Jones.

What should we do with another PF, and even though some people think he can play C, I doubt he can play it in Minnesota. And what should we do with a nice Eddie Jones who has another 2 years on his huge contract?

With this trade, we might get better, but the ultimate goal should be to win a championship this or next year but this deal wouldn't get us there.

I'm a fan on Marshall, but Jones disappears in the playoffs. I would find a way to get Jim Jackson instead.

Yes, the Wolves would be getting the obvious better end. Unfortuantely, the Miami Herald is reporting that Miami has declined the trade. So, for the time being, it isn't happening.

    Not happening, sorry guys...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A report of Heat trade talks involving guard Eddie Jones and Timberwolves guard Latrell Sprewell quickly was shot down Thursday night by a member of the organization.

Why would the Raptors even consider this? I don't get how trading Donyell Marshall and Jalen Rose, who are both contributors, for Penny Hardaway who is oft-injured and 33 years old, neither of which are good signs. It's been discounted, but still...

Raptors trade away about 20ppg for a guy who is in the twilight of his career? Not happening. This trade is not fair to Miami and Toronto, and Miami don't even need Sprewell anyways. Him for Jones is a wash, and they don't want to ruin their chemistry right now.

The Wolves are dying to get rid of Latrell that they will accept anyone. I am no Eddie Jones fan. Marshall can provide defensive presence.

Of course, the deal is denied so who knows. One thing about deals. Deals are made without rumors. I try not to believe in trade rumors at all.

There is also a three team trade similar to the 4
    Boston Gets:Antione Walker
    Atlanta Gets:Latrell Sprewell
Minnesota Gets:Ricky Davis and Gary Payton

I heard this from Steven A. Smith, although it seems unlikely. I have also heard on local Boston shows that Pierce may be on his way out this year or next. That would be bad!

rob babcock would have to be smoking toenails to pull the trigger on that trade...although jalens contract is absurd...he's our leading scorer, and doneyll is our best trade bait...raps are a .500 team since getting rid of vince...in the east that means playoffs, so i dont see them throwing in the towel just yet...and that trade would be doing just that

[IMG] How does this help the Miami Heats? I would not like someone like Latrell Spreewell around Dywane Wade, spreading negative influence to the team. If Shaq thinks Kobe is a bitch, how will handle Spreewell?

And good luck with his ridiculous 'I need to feed my family' salary.

Minnesota is the real winners in this deal.

Even though Miami already denied the deal, you're still talking like they're going to do it?

    How strange is this?

And how can be Minnesota the real winner in such a deal? They get basically the same kind of player back, with even a bigger contract? And Sprewell wouldn't be the only one Minnesota has to give up since all those salaries don't match at all some additional players would need to be included and I don't see how Donyell and Eddie would help Minnesota to win a title this or next year.

    This is a four-way deal?

Unless there's more to the trade than you've reported, this really isn't a four-way deal. If you take a moment to break it down, you see that it's two separate trades - one between the Raptors and the Knicks and one between the Heat and Timberwolves.

I completely agree, this trade makes no sense to me. The Raps would get completely screwed, they would get nothing out of it. Penny was good, about 8 years ago, but now as Hurricane says he's injured too much. You can only lose so many games and try to make it look like you're trying to win. And even if they got a really good draft pick, none really seem to want to stay in TO anyways, which is really unfortunate.

Not quite. Everyone is repeating the same thing: "Minni would be the winner in this deal,.." (and they even haven't recognized that this trade is officially not going to happen). But no one actually gave a reason for it, that's why I gave them a reason to think about why Minni can't be the winner. This shows me, that many people around here just read the first post and then randomly throw in their opinion, don't care about the others, don't read the other's opinion and don't want to get into a discussion about it and don't look again into a thread where they contributed in case s.o. could have replied to it and maybe a real discussion could start,...

Of course, there are exceptions, and I know many people around here who like discussions and take their time to read the posts above, but this thread is a good example that this isn't the case for all.

Anyway, I don't care about it and I won't come back to this thread to continue any kind of discussion because this trade is off the books and should be closed anyway because it's not gonna happen.

    And it continues...

The trade isn't gonna happen. This is what the Raptors GM said.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting The Toronto Sun:</div><div class="quote_post">
ROB BABCOCK was denying rumours, Sam Mitchell was laughing and Donyell Marshall wasn't even paying much attention to the trade talk. Such was the reaction in Raptorland yesterday to a rumoured four-team trade, reported by TNT on Thursday night.</div>
