Do you think that the Rockets are in a good situation right now to make it to the playoffs or should they make a move? I personally think that they should make a move because besides Yao and McGrady they have no good players. They need to make a move that gives them some depth and improves their playoffs chances.
Well I do think Mutombo, Wesley and Sura are pretty good players, not great but I consider them good at least, It really depends on what move it is, I mean people were saying we should make trades and stuff and then suddenly they trade away Jim Jackson and everyone (including myself) was shocked and upset, so I can't say whether or not we should trade anyone unless I know what we're getting in return.
Ask me before the Spurs game, and I would've said yes -- we need to make a move. But depth is now, one of our smaller problems. With the line-up we have, We some pretty damn good depth. C: Yao, Deke (that's enough, but anyone to take a few hits is fine by me) PF: Howard, Mo, 'Spoon (injured..), Padgett, Deke? SF: McGrady, Barry, Padgett, Sura? SG: Wesley, Barry, McGrady, Sura? PG: Sura, Knight (10-day contract), Barrett, Wesley/McGrady/Barry all fit. If we get a good draft pick, and develop Spanoulis, who has been on fire (has been dropping threes like sunflower seeds, hit a game winning one, defense and FT%'s have increased). they might not be very talented, but it appears to me that they have pretty damn good chemistry. When they played good offensive teams, they put a bunch of points with them, and when they played the spurs they played a great defensive game. Ever since we made the trades for Barry and Wesley we have been doing good... if it aint broke dont fix it
No!!!! No more trading otherwise the team flow is screwed up and they're doing so well now. Trading more players would be a dumb move.
Right now, after going on a four game winning streak, I really don't think its wise to make any moves as of now. The team chemistry has really developed really great and we really don't need any trades unless its for a legit power forward, something that will probably only happen in the offseason. I agree with what magnomonkey said, our team has a pretty nice bench with players such as Mutumbo, Taylor, Barry, and Barrett. So far, I think the bench has really saved us in some games such as Mutumbo pulling down a bunch of rebounds or Barrett really firing us up with energy. In addition to that, the new players have really learned Van Gundy's system pretty well which can be seen from their fluent play in the last few games. Getting new players to learn his complex and confusing system would just be suicide. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

lol hopefully Yao will resign with us. To answer the question, no, I don't think we should make a trade. Even though we lost the last two games, the team has shown good chemistry and I wouldnt want to break that bond. The players are getting used to each other and in time, that will give us results. Like the others who have said it, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. We'll make moves in the off season for sure.

Lamar Odom and Bryant take up 70% of their cap space, and I doubt they'd want to spend another 20% of that on Yao or Stoudemire. Also, the Rockets have the right to match any offers that Yao gets. There's no way he will go anywhere albeit a trade, and that doesn't look plausible at the moment.
I can't believe Houston didn't go after James Thomas when he was putting up huge numbers on the boards in the NBDL. Rebounding, perimeter shooting will always be their biggest concern.

Thomas is a great rebounder and shotblocker, and it was a no-brainer that we should give him a ten-day contract or something. Instead, we sign two point guards that have yet to make an impact.

Since they don't play Weatherspoon anyway, what would have been the ramifications if they released him, and brought in a player like Thomas on a minimum contract to finish the year? It does not seem to add much money to what they are paying anyway.
