<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"><font size="3">Jackson would OK a trade to Nets</font> Monday, January 17, 2005 BY DAVE D'ALESSANDRO Star-Ledger Staff ATLANTA -- The primary source for the Nets' salvation is now sitting at home in Toledo, Ohio, watching money take wings, and still stewing over the idea that anyone would want to make him play for the worst team in the NBA. "I was totally surprised -- surprised and disappointed," Jimmy Jackson said of his trade from Houston to New Orleans. "No disrespect to the Hornets, but starting over is not what I want to do." The 34-year-old swingman spoke to the Toledo Blade on Friday, his first interview since refusing to report to the Hornets after the Dec. 27 trade. The subsequent suspension has cost him $220,000 in salary ($27,500 per game for eight games), but he stressed that money is not an issue. While Jackson would not comment on his team preference in The Blade interview, a person close to him said last week he would welcome a move to the Nets, Denver or Miami, though there are at least two other teams interested in his services. </div> Link: http://www.nj.com/nets/ledger/index.ssf?/b...42704295720.xml That's good and we could really use him but is he really worth a 1st round pick? I don't think so. I think we should try to negociate and try to give less.
Interesting Jason Kidd and Jimmy Jackson reunited, considering they got into a fight over Toni Braxton when they played together in Dallas.

i cant wait to see how this unfolds, but as i have already stated i dont think jimmy jacksons services will be totally appreciated until jefferson is back.
No way is a first round pick worth Jimmy, I think that he is worth a second round pick at best...The Nets may be in favor of his services, but they cant afford to crack and give too much. I think that the might be a deadline trade occuring.

We could rebuild with that pick and get a future star instead of trading it away for a guy who will mainly be a backup in the future since we have Richard Jefferson.
Trading a first round pick would be idiotic, where are the Nets going this season anyways, so why not solidify the future as opposed to getting a player who would come and leave as soon as his contract is done. Pretty stupid really...
Jim Jackson would be an excellent complamentary player cause he can do the intangibles, defensively, that we just dont have right now from our win players in Carter & RB. I can understand where shape would have some concerns about Kidd & Jackson because the breakup of the 3 J's in Dallas was pretty nasty. But that was like 2 basketball lifetimes, ago. Those guys where extremely young, not only were they disputing over T.Braxton but they all also wanted to be the man on the court. And combined that with the losing & injuries those guys were going thru at the time, you end up with what happen in Dallas. But Jackson, thru becoming a Journyman in this league has really grown up as a player. And he has shown in Sacromento & Houston the last couple years that he will fit into any role the coach asks of him inorder to win. I know it might not seem that way because of the stunt he is pulling on the Hornets not reporting. But I think he should get a pass on that on...cause honestly, who would no how to handle a situation, where you were argueably the most consistent player on a team you help reach the playoffs for the 1st time since the late 90's. And then they turn around and trade you to the biggest mess in the NBA. The Rockets trated him extremely disrespectful, honestly. Iam not saying sitting out is right. But I can understand where Jackson is coming from...so I think he has still matured as a team player over the years. And I dont hold his current situation against him. With that being said I wouldnt giveup a 1st rounder, right now we will have our 1st round pick. And the Clippers via Denver, 1st round pick in the draft, that is a chance to get two nice young pickups, hopefully some frontcourt guys. So I dont think giving up a first round pick is worth it. I would give up the pick we got in the Kittles deal, it is a 2nd rounder.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">but starting over is not what I want to do."</div> uhm. I sure hope he's not expecting a championship with the Nets. But he'll be a great addition. His threes can open up our big guys down low. I know it's only Nenad and Twin down low but they're doing ok these past few games.
I would say that the Nets would be better off getting the guaranteed 13 and 6 from Jackson every night rather than getting a rookie like Brandon Armstrong. Some teams like sure things, and others prefer to speculate on the future of rookies. Personally, if the Nets are pushing for a playoff spot, they'd be better off trading a pick for immediate help. But if they are rebuilding, might as well get another Yinka Dare to add to New Jersey's glorious first round draft history.
