Has your opinion on Wesley & The Trade changed? Everyone was upset at first with the trade that sent our very own Jim Jackson and Bostjan Nachbar to the New Orleans Hornets for David Wesley, but what about now? have your opinions changed at all? has Wesley impressed you? or is it just the opposite?, now that you've seen what Wesley can do, would you of still done the trade? My feelings on David Wesley have gotten nothing but better, I still wouldn't of traded borh JJ and Boki for him, but with him finally getting his shooting touch back and providing us with some much needed numbers all round, my hate for the trade has decreased, how about you guys?
It hasn't really changed. I'm still pretty upset we traded Jim Jackson and basically screwed him over but sending him to New Orleans. Right now, even when his shooting has been improving, I think David Wesley is basically the equivalent of Jim Jackson. Except of course, their obvious height differences. Both are nice three point shooters and both hustle during games. Meanwhile, Jim Jackson was also a vocal leader of the team and practically held together. However, with the recent string of wins that we've been having, it actually has improved our team I guess? I don't know. I really have mixed emotions about the trade. Maybe it was good, maybe it will hurt us in the future, who knows?
Well ever since the Rockets got Wesley ball movement and fastbreaks seem to be alot better. The only thing I dislike about this trade is that we Screwed JJ over. We traded him to the worst team in the NBA when he thought he was going to atleast finish out his contract in houston.
In the last 4 seasons Jim has been a far superior 3-pt shooter, yet that's what they say they brought Wesley here for. David has only hit 14 3's in his 10 games as a Rocket, where Jim (by averages) would have already hit 23. That's 27 extra points just from 3's. That's the difference in winning and losing a couple of games right there. Going by total point averages, Jim would have outscored David by 40 over the past 10 games, again, the difference between winning and losing two, three, maybe four games. Sure it's hypothetical to look at it that way, but it's worth thinking about. Maybe if the Rockets were honest about what they were trying to do with this trade I'd be more understanding, but to say that they got Wesley for his 3 point shooting is ludicrous.
my opinion on this trade hasnt changed, i still hate it. i actually wouldnt have been that pissed off about it if it had just been jim jackson for wesley. that's at least reasonable. but boki AND jimmy? what the hell? i see a lot of potential in nachbar, and i'm tired of all these old ass guys. bostjan at least brought a little youth to the table.
i agree with clutchcity04 but my opinions for the trade are still teh same when i heard about it i hated it we traded JJ when he was doing good and i hope that the GM saw the error in his judgement of trading 2 good players for one whos barely getting into the rythm of the team
Although the wins have slightly made me more optimistic about the trade, I still don't like the trade. Nachbar has been doing well in New Orleans, which makes me wonder why we gave up on him so early. In trading Jackson away, we get back equal value, but a contract that is longer than Jackson's. And Wesley doesn't exactly bring that much more youth than Jackson. Maybe the trade will look better in hindsight, but right now it seems it didn't really help our team.
My opinion hasn't changed, the trade was still bad in my mind. Trading Boki and JJ for Wesley just isn't good enough. We could've gotten better players for them instead of Wesley. Wesley is a good player and it will help the team a lot when he finds his shooting form but the same could be said about JJ. But I think things could be worse. We've been scoring more and winning more since he came so it can't be all bad.
still don't like the trade... I guess ball movement improved, but I am sure the numbers support my thinking that JJ is a better shooter from 3. I guess JVG just wants quicker, scrappier guards in the backcourt with the acquisitions of Barry (good trade) and Wesley.
