Looking ahead at the Kobe-less Lakers upcoming schedule the Lakers have an 8 game stretch at Staples. Most of the games are against weaker opponents, but as we saw against Utah, no game is a sure thing anymore. Minnesota - Won 93-90 Golden State - Won 105-101 Seattle - Lost 93-104 Clippers - Lost 99-105 New Jersey - Lost 103-109 Charlotte - Won 101-90 Portland - Won 92-79 San Antonio - Blowout Loss At best I'm predicting the Lakers to go 4-4 during this stretch, the toss up games being the Nets, Clippers, and Blazers. I have them winning 2 of those 3, but they could easily lose all three games and finish 2-6 during their home stretch. Even if we go 4-4, other teams in the West are closing fast on the final three playoff spots. The Lakers are in jeopardy of dropping out of the playoffs with Kobe on the shelf. Can Odom lead this team? Can the return of George give the Lakers a spark?
I'm calling it right now...the Lakers will win 5 of those games. If Devean George comes back healthy, and not like Vlade, he'll help us out, believe it or not (can't believe I just said that though).
Im not a Lakers fan. I used to live in LA during the first of their last 3 championships and i was pissed when they beat the blazers who i had grown to like due to their aqusation of pippen(I can see it like it was yesterday as pip stormed to the locker room he grabbed and knocked down a 6' stack of crisply folded towels after game 7) They called ma a Laker hater. But I see the Kebeless Lakers Bringing It together within the next 2 games To go On a serious winning streak. But their fortunes will end when Kobe returns and ruins the chemistry.

But hey, if you can assume that, I guess I can safely say that Garnett needs to take a rest from the Wolves, so they can go on their huge winstreak without him as well.
Well get 6 of theese games. we will go 6-2. Which will be terrific until Kobe comes back. Well be arounf the 24-18 mark and move on.
I hope they will be able to win at least 5 of their games in Kobe Absence. It would be great to have Kobe back with a team that has stepped it up
I'd be very happy with 4-4 over that stretch. We'd still be 4 games over .500 and the way the teams right below us are playing, we won't drop any further than the 8 seed. Memphis will probably pass us, but I don't see Minnesota, Houston and the Clips passing us, not all of them anyway. Maybe 1 of them. Bad part is, this stretch was an excellent oppurtunity for us to put some distance between us and these other teams.
Obviously this team needs to make adjustments in order to win these games. I don't want to see one guy carrying the team, like Kobe does, I want to see the Lakers play team ball and get everybody involved. If we can get Caron, and Lamar to score 20+ and three or four other guys in double digits in scoring with plenty of assist then that will be exactly the kind of stats you will see when you have a playmaker and teamwork, making the extra pass - to the open man, for the easy basket. Take shots that we cannot miss. Lower the three-pointers by about 20 less shots. Adjustments are needed, and Rudy T. better get on this quick.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting seikencube:</div><div class="quote_post">without #8 Lakers cant win !</div> Yeah they can't win without #8, I mean they're only 3-1 since Kobe got injured. Sure they haven't beaten anyone good, let's see they beat a struggling TWolves team, the Warriors, and what was that third team ... oh yeah the CAVS!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting seikencube:</div><div class="quote_post">without #8 Lakers cant win !</div> Dont you love it when posters have to swallow their own words.

The Lakers are getting ripped in all the local sports papers after last night's loss to the Sonics. Rudy T should post those headlines all over the locker room to fire the team up against the Clippers tonight.
Not just the local papers man. I was in the bus this morning in the NETHERLANDS and for the first time in like 5 years there was a basketball article in the paper and you guessed it alright. The lost game against Sonics. Huge headline saying: Perhaps the Lakers need Shaq back?? I couldnt believe it. Man we need Kobe back and soon
