Voshon Lenard: Torn achilles, ruled out. Brief Notes: <ul> [*]Sea-Town and Denver will meet for the third time this season, with the Sonics taking the first two games. Ray Allen played very well in both of those games and should make mincemeat out of Greg Buckner and the Nuggets' backcourt. The Sonics should be without All-Star bound forward Rashard Lewis again but he may receive some minutes late in the game if needed. The Nuggets are also 2-8 in their last 10 games, while the Sonics are 7-3 with 2 straight home wins.
<ul> [*]The Sonics must deal with another formidable front court in Kenyon Martin and Marcus Camby. Reggie Evans should be close to full health and with Fortson and Collison coming off the bench could present a challenge for Denver's bigs. Camby has been a beast on the boards as of late, averaging 9 on the year. Martin is averaging a not too shabby 15/8. Oh yeah, they also have a guy named Carmelo Anthony who is pretty good.
<ul> [*]Washington Taking Over: I'd just like to take this space to point out that the University of Washington basketball team is #10 in the latest AP polls with Gonzaga at #11. All I can say is it's about time the state of Washington has some good basketball teams. It's really turning into a basketball atmosphere over here. Especially with the Sonics doing so well. Bill Gates: What's a quarter? All predictions, analysis and discussion relating directly to the game, both before, during and after, to be posted in this thread.
This should be a really easy game for the Sonics. The Nuggets are without Camby and Carmelo hasnt really been himself this last couple of games. I hope that Ray can hit his shot tonight. Sonics- 121 Nuggets- 89
i say seattle will win against nuggets ... seattle is on a roll with ray allen etc... lol cant spell that guyz name
What are your thoughts on lebron james performance and his new shoes LB2 ? My thoughts on lebron james performance is that hes doing very well in his games.... he just better watch his back on injuries or else that will slow his performance down! but hes playing awsome like jordan in the old school days.... Lebron james shoes looks comfortable to play with and very nice but the only thing is that its heavy and not that good grip correct me if im wrong but thats what my friend said when he has LB2
Interesting. Vlad, AD and Fortson all fired off the bench, and we still lost 116-110. Thanks in part to a career game from Camby, who posted 25 points and 24 rebounds. Has anyone noticed we are giving up more points and more rebounds as the season is progressing?
Ray Allen played terrible, his defense has become noticeaby bad the past few games, watching the ball while his man beats him back door. He made a lot of bad plays on offense too, like the possesion in regulation with a minute to go where he dribbled the entire shot clock down, circled through the lane, missed Vlade in the corner then jacked up a contested 3. Also, once again they couldn't stop anyone off the dribble, this time it was Boykins. I give credit to Denver for playing hard when they were down 15 on the road, their ball movement without Carmelo looked a lot better. But it was inexcusable for the Sonics to lose this game - Denver was missing Nene, Martin and Anthony. Terrible loss.
Can you believe it Nate, that the Sonics can actually be outplayed when using the impeccable 9 man rotation? Could it be Nate, that Ray Allen could need his minutes reduced considering he shot 6-22 from the field and 1-8 from three in 45 minutes? Wouldn't you think Nate, that our point guard production would be even more effective if Luke Ridnour shot better than 4-13 from the field? Isn't possible Nate (and Rick), that soon to be 30 year old Antonio Daniels would be the best option as trade bait considering that he is playing his best basketball of his career and most likely will expect more money when he opts out of his contract at the end of the season? (His contract would actually match up w/ a comparable player) Doesn't it seem foolish Nate, that combined we will be spending nearly 5 million dollars to bring in a 30 year old rookie from Turkey (over the next two seasons) and two summer free agents that together have played less than 74 minutes and have scored a total of 16 points? Doesn't seem logical Nate, that a certain player who carried your ball club many times a season ago would be able to find consistent minutes in your rotation when he could possibly end up being your starting shooting guard in the event that Ray Allen doesn't resign next season. Simple questions that I would think would have simple answers. ...and this is only speculation for the guards.
I think we actually banned Nate for repeatedly ignoring signature guidelines and plugging his website, so he's not going to be able to answer those for ya Shiek.
Man!! This is crazy. I dont know how we lost. Except for the fact that Marcus Camby had the game of his life. I thought that we were going to kill them, but I guess not. Good Game all of you Nuggets Fans!
^ Thanks We'll basically take any win. I didn't even care that Melo went down because we got it. But obviously it's going to be hard to play at this high level without Melo, K-Mart, and Nene for another few games. Hope winning here at Key Arena will boost their confidence and build a momentum.
From today's paper: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"We had open looks, but our shots didn't go," Daniels said. "Whether or not our shot is falling, it shouldn't determine how hard we play defensively. I think that is a bad habit of this team. We have a tendency to kind of drop our heads and not play defensively if our shots aren't falling." </div> Ugh. Sounds eerily similar to last year. After watching a bit of the Golden State/Denver game the other night I thought there'd be no way we'd lose this game. No offense to fans of either team, but it to me it was almost unwatchable - no ball movement, contested fadeaway jumpers with 15 seconds on the shot clock, horrible team defense... I guess that's the nature of the NBA.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sonics1:</div><div class="quote_post">Man!! This is crazy. I dont know how we lost....</div> Am I the only one that watched the game? What do you say when your favorite player single handedly beats your favorite team in OT? Earl Boykins was huge. Camby kept them in the game in regulation, but we lost to Boykins, plain and simple. It didn't help that Ray Ray couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. We lost because Boykins did it all down the stretch. Ray tried to do it all himself and couldn't. Sometimes the truth hurts, but in this case I am torn. Bittersweet I guess.
I watched the game and it was an absolute heartbreaker. I really think Ray Allen cost us this game towards the end when we still had the lead. That turnover at the end was very costly. What's even more frustrating is that we have no one to blame but the Sonics for this one. The refs actually did a decent job as there were no bad calls that really jumped out at me. (which was a suprise) Even Fortson got relatively fair treatment from the refs.

But I guess the refs rightfully figured if you're weak enough to get pushed out of position by DeMarr Johnson you don't deserve the rebound

That's really sucky they didn't call anything on that then.
