<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rose still unhappy coming off bench Canadian Press 1/20/2005 TORONTO (CP) - It seems there's no pleasing Jalen Rose. The Toronto guard/forward is still angry about his role coming off the bench, despite leading the team to victory in one of his best games as a Raptor on Wednesday. His fourth-quarter outburst secured a win over the Knicks - interestingly, the team reportedly targeting Rose the most in recent trade rumours. "Regardless of how I feel like I'm being treated in a situation, that doesn't matter. I'm going to get out here and play for the team because these guys believe in me, they look up to me, and they look for me in tough situations," said Rose. "I've got to be a rock." "As far as coming off the bench, I said my piece on that, my stance won't change, I'm just going to do what I have to do to help the team win like I did (Wednesday) night," said Rose. </div> Link -------------------- I think that Sam should start Jalen for one game to see how we does, and if he has a bad game just yank him.
At least he's dealing with it professionally. I wouldn't touch this lineup, its workin so don't mess with it.
Doesn't he realize he's been playing better off the bench? Plus, he's only averaging like 5-6 minutes less on the bench anyway.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bobcats:</div><div class="quote_post">Doesn't he realize he's been playing better off the bench? Plus, he's only averaging like 5-6 minutes less on the bench anyway.</div> I really think Jalen is all about mind games. I think he is just letting us know that he will give a good hard effort, just doesn't want to stay in Toronto. He has kind of implied it in the past by saying he knows his days are numbered here.
Jalen insisted that he wants to stay in Toronto. It's just that he thinks of not starting as something equivalent to demotion and to him demotion = trade because that's the same thing the Bulls did to him before they traded him to Toronto. He's getting a starter's minutes and producing better-than-starter numbers so if this keeps up, not only is it good for Toronto, it will be good for Rose himself because teams will actually want him, not shy away because of his contract. Rose is playing like a $14 million a year player as of late.
Personally I would be unhappy myself if I was a starter for most of my career and then all of a sudden demoted to the bench. Name one big name player in the NBA that would not be pissed if they were demoted to the bench?
Anyone notice that Jalen Rose tends to talk in the 3rd person? Jalen Rose - "no one respects jalen rose"
Let him be. It's the influence of being on several hip-hop videos But that statement is false. I respect JR and I will respect his contract too if he continues to play the way he's been playing the past 3 games.
J.Rose must realize that coming off the bench brings out not only the best in him...but the best out of everyone else on the team. The attitude he brings coming off the bench is so different then when he was a starter. He fires up the crowd as well as the team. The bench comes out with more energy because they look up to Rose. I love Rose more than ever before with him on the bench...also think about this. IF Rose came off the bench the whole season...he probably would've been 6th man of the year, which is pretty damn good recognition for his career.
If he badly wants to start, and he can be as productive as a starter. Who will be our consistent spark off the bench???? And won't Bosh's number of shots decrease if Jalen starts?(not as though Bosh even gets a lot of shots)

Name one big name player in the NBA that would not be pissed if they were demoted to the bench?</div> one problem with the question, its premised on a set of false assumptions. jalen rose is only a big name player in status, recognition, because of his days with the fab five where they revolutionized basketball and hip hop culture (black sox, baggy shorts and attitude) but in terms of ability he's spent more time on losing teams than on winning teams. and btw, i like jalen rose as a dude, if u've spent any time in the forum u would know that. i just don't like the histrionics on the court.
let me redirect the debate; what do u guys think of rose's bush bashing? he says "he doesn't believe in war, the "politricks" comment, he would have voted for the journalist because he can't be any worse than what they have now? i'm fine with it, in fact i laud it. j.rose for president in 2008?
Jalen is odd..I doubt hes ever gonna be happy til he gets the start..its funny tho listening to him complain(off the court..)
