<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Through the 2005 All-Star Balloting program, NBA fans from around the globe are responsible for voting in the starters for the 54th NBA All-Star Game, which will be played in Denver on Sunday, February 20. The game will be broadcast live on TNT, Rogers Sportsnet, ESPN Radio and audio in several languages on NBA.com (http://nba.com) at 8 p.m. (EST). O?Neal leads all Eastern Conference players with 2,099,201 votes, followed at the center position by Detroit?s Ben Wallace (644,543). Carter (1,505,169) and Orlando?s Grant Hill (1,273,846) lead all Eastern Conference forwards. Cleveland?s LeBron James (1,351,369) has regained the lead among Eastern Conference guards followed by Philadelphia?s Allen Iverson (1,341,824). The 2005 NBA All-Star Balloting program continues through January 23, 2005, and updated results for the Eastern and Western Conferences have been issued regularly leading up to the unveiling of the All-Star starters on Thursday, February 3. Following the completion of fan voting and starting line-up announcement, the head coaches in each conference will vote to determine the remaining All-Stars in their respective conferences. </div> <div align="center">Link</div> It's no surprise that LeBron James would lead the East guards in voting. Heck, I'm very surprised he doesn't have the most overall votes for that matter. But when Iverson took the lead away from him I was pleasantly surprised. I'm guessing those back-to-back 50+ point performances pushed his votes tremendously. Then all of a sudden, just a week and half later, LeBron James took the number one spot back again. But it?s nothing to worry about because Iverson is pretty much locked for a starting role anyways. However it would be nice to see him be the #1 vote getter among East guards. So come on people, we only have three days left so keeps those votes coming. Let's get Iverson at the number one because very soon he's going to be in a dogfight to be a starter in the All-Star and eventually, soon he will have to earn an All-Star spot by coaches decision as sad that may sound. :/ But as for the game itself, what are you expecting from Iverson? Another 10+ assists night, another 30+ point night or another MVP night? In the last game he?s asserted himself into too much of a passive player. He should have look to get his fare amount of shots for himself, while passing the ball anyways. Rick Carlise even asked Iverson to start looking for his own shot, but Iverson just choose not to. Iverson finished the night with 3 points and 11 assists that night. Scoring just 3 points on 1-6 shooting bumped him out as the All-Time, All-Star PPG leader.
Oh well...it's not lilke it matters hes going to start anyway. But yea it wouldl be nice to see AI to lead the east guards.
As long as he starts, Iversons votes don`t really matter to me. I guess this season most of the fans just saw how the Cavs have really improved with LeBron. He also brings the entertainment which is one of the big factors in voting for the All-Star game.
Okay we know that he will start. With that out of the picture, how well do you think he will perform as far as the game goes? Will he get an MVP, or just throw alley's all day like he did last year?
I think he'll do a little of both. Since Kidd won't be there, I think he'll try his best to get the high flyers the lobs Kidd would get them...Carter, LeBron, Wade and what not.
Yeah... lol I think I only voted twice this season for all start votes, but after this post I'll be sure to vote AI again. AI will be a starter. In the beginnign of the year LeBron and AI were my picks to get the starting guard spots and it looks that way. I too am sur[rised its close. I expected LeBron to easily be the best vote getter in the East following only Yao Ming because of the chinese. When Shaq was the #1 vote getter I was actually surprised yet delighted because a lot of poeple hate Shaq. The thing I am excited to see is AI playing with Shaq. They have never played on the same team and with a dominant big man much better than Dikembe we'll see what AI can do. If the East win I predict Allen Iverson to get the MVP. IF the West win I predict Tim Duncan to get the award. Tim Duncan has never gotten an All Star MVP and that sur[rises me I think he'll get one if West wins. I'll be rooting for the East all the way, too bad the West will probably win. This matchup of forwards SCARES me KEvin Garnett and Tim Duncan vs Grant Hill and Vince Carter. God damn it if only JO can start......... EVERY ONE VOTE JO for the EAST SAKE, but Stan Van Gundy will proablby be smart and put him in there so it's all good
