I'm not sure if I believe this due to the fact peter Vecsey said this but according to him the Pistons will trade elden campbell and a 1st round pick for arroyo today.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Carlos Arroyo, reduced to fourth point status (DNP-coach's decision, four straight games) for not conforming to Jerry Sloan's team concept and refusing to back off his macho stance, will be traded, but positively not to the Clippers. Look for the Pistons to get him today for Elden Campbell and a future first-round pick.</div>

If this trade goes down, it works great for both teams. Detroit gets a great shooter PG in Arroyo and Utah, who lacks size, gets a hardworking center in Campbell and that 1st round pick.

I think that it will go down. They have been talking about this for about two weeks and the Jazz need someone like Campbell. The Pistons will also be getting someone to help get Billups some resting time. I hope that this happens.

I think this trade could be both good and bad. Arroyo will strongly help Billips but I havent dicided how good he is on D. Campbell will help the jazz because the desperately need some force inside.

The pistons unit will be getting stronger with this move. I only hope that this move by the pistons does not take away from Lindsey hunters playing time. I beleive lindsey has been really key for the pistons, by pressuring the ball.

All in all though i like this trade for both teams.

just heard on our local sports radio that it's a done deal.

further, Utah has no use for Elden, so they may waive him. and then we pick him back up (just like Lindsey in the Boston/Sheed three way).

basically it was Carlos Arroyo for a future first round draft pick. Joe Dumar has got to be GM of the year.

Wow. Pistons win big here. Arroyo can put up 15/8 numbers when 100%, and he might be the best second-string point guard if he plays behind Billups. A first-round pick from the Pistons might only be about 22-26th, so the Pistons don't lose much, and more importantly, the Jazz don't gain much. Joe Dumars is really a gem. So far, he's drafted Prince, traded for Hamilton and Wallace, signed Billups and McDyess, and now he's getting Arroyo for basically a prospect. Wow.

This would be a good deal by both teams and if this goes down, I see the Pistons trading Lindsey Hunter for draft picks.

Joe Dumars continues to add talented players with a chip on their shoulder for virtually nothing. The Pistons add a young, quality pointguard at a bargain (Arroyo only makes $4M a season,) for what is going to be a late first rounder. Arroyo gets to play for another great coach, one who was impressed with him at the Olympics and is confident in his abilities. He's going to make the most of his opportunities to redeem himself and show the Jazz organization what they lost out on.

The only part I don't like about this deal is the future of Delfino. Do the Pistons plan on developing him still or will they make a move to ship him to another team?

I like this trade for us, we get a decent backup PG, and hopefully this will free up some minutes for Darko too. I dunno how Joe manages to get all these good players for not so much, best GM in the league by far.

Why? He's been playing great before he was injured.

With Arroyo, Billups, and Hunter, I would imagine Delfino drops to 4th in the rotation and won't get any significant minutes. Is it worth keeping him around to ride the bench, or should they trade him to improve their team at other positions?

Yeah, but he also fills in for Tayshaun Prince at the forward position. He's a better selection than Ronald Dupree and Darvin Ham.

I think both teams will benefit from this trade, but more so the Pistons. The Jazz just wanted to get rid of Arroyo while they could. He wasn't giving his all, and yet still complained about not starting. When he was on court, the Jazz didn't perform as welll as a team. The Jazz were just better off without him. Right now, it looks like they're keeping Campbell, so they must of seen something in him they like, as most thought he would've been waived by now. The Jazz seem to struggle to bring in Free Agents, so first round picks are a great way of getting young, promising players. This is their 3rd future first round pick (not including their own), which they may use to trade up in the draft.

The Pistons get a Point Guard who came at a cheap price when you consider what he has and is capable of doing. He could have a breakout season anytime now, he just needs to get his head in the right place.

Delfino is a 2/3 guard, adding in Arroyo will not effect his playing time. Hunter will not be used much due to the fact they want him fresh for the playoffs. Delfino will continue to get the kind of minutes he got before he was hurt.

Arroyo is exactly what the Pistons needed, to me he was a top 10 PG last season so having a guy with talent like this as back-up PG is a bonus. Billups won't have to play so much and be needed to score and pass with Arroyo around.
