here is the link to the ranking site: http://cbs.sportsline.com/nba/playerrankin...egularseason/SF Hedo is 25th in top 50 small forwards in NBA. However his avarage minutes played per-game is much lower than even the players ranked below him. Hedo avarages 26.3 minutes pergame, Everybody above him avaraged higher, matter of fact much higher than him. But what is even more interesting is that Half the players below him avaraged more playing time. It seems to me that if Hedo played more minutes he could be in top 10 perhaps. Why he is not given the minutes? It is apparent that he makes most of it, so why he doesn't play more?
Welcome to the board, sdegerli. Can I ask you one question: Are you following the Magic or do you just like Hedo? If not, let me update you on Hedo and the team: First, we've got another very good player at the SF position and that's Grant Hill, the very person that is ranked #7 in the same rankings (as Crossover3 pointed out). Then we just traded offensive minded Cuttino Mobley, our previous starting SG, yes SG! For a defensive minded SG in Doug Christie. I think both Weisbrod and Davis said this frees up more time for Hedo and he'll get more playing time and he plays an even bigger part of our offense. Now, in the first game after the trade was announced, he only played 25 minutes, shooting 0-9 (that was Jan 10 against the Celtics) but since then he's averaging 39 minutes while averaging nearly 21 Points per game as a starter at SG. Few things I don't like about it: - We lack now a big scorer off the bench. - He plays out of position. - Our defense seemed to have become worse with him in the starting lineup. Except for the few minutes DC is in of course.
I said right from the start that I was gonna give it alot of games before I made my mind up. Cat was averaging around 16ppg @ shooting guard, but more than anything that stat was held up by his 30+ game and a couple of good games he had, in some of his final games it was dropping. Hedo has stepped up from 13ppg to 20ppg as a starter, so in that respect it looks good. Losing scoring off the bench? Yeah we have lost hedo, who is just scoring even more anyway, but we have Jameer who can give 10ppg easy off the bench should he be used, and Pat also gives big points when used for decent minutes, not just 1 min on 1 min off. The way I look at it Cat going gives us alot of minutes to free more points up. We were at times playing him for 30mins getting nothing more than 5 pts off him, yet having players sitting down for 40mins that could turn in a offensive threat for more than 5pts. I know my examples are harsh and only a few games, but they were among some of the final games for Cat at orlando.

On the other hand, Hedo isn't the perfect defender against a SG, nor is that Hill and decent SG can play with us but DC can do quite a decent job against those but he needs to be in the game right from the beginning because once they're hot he isn't effective anymore. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting NbaBaller:</div><div class="quote_post">i know kidd is not playin at his best but how could u put him #28. thats a disgrace </div> If you haven't noticed, you're in the Orlando Forum and this thread is about Hedo, no need to start talking about Kidd. There is a NJ Nets forum where you can do that (Bye the way this ranking is based on stats not on personal opinions)....
