<div class="quote_poster">Quoting McGrady#1:</div><div class="quote_post">but how many more years can the suns expect to get from Jimmy jackson? i mean he's a great player and i got respect for the guy, but seriously he probably only got a few seasons left.</div> They only have him signed for one more season after this one, and he's making 2.7 million next season which is chump change in terms of NBA salary. They can sign a backup SG/SF with their mid-level exception, and players are going to want to go there because of the sitaution, which is a championship caliber team who runs a lot which will get people shots. Let's say the Suns re-sign Joe Johnson, just for the sake of argument, I'll assume he makes a contract similar to Quentin Richardson's which would start him at 5.8 million. I don't see this happening unless they plan on trading either Joe Johnson or Q-Rich for a big man because the next season they'll have to sign Amare, and stacking up on guards does them no good. The ideal situation would be to do a sign and trade with Philly for Samuel Dalmbert. They would send Quentin Richardson or Joe Johnson to Philly, and receive Dalmbert, they could re-sign Joe Johnson to the 6 year 43-44 million dollar contract, and the next season when Howard Eisley's 6.9 million comes off, their salary won't be as much when re-signing Amare to his Kenyon Martin like deal.
