WOW! When I read about the writeup on tonight's game against Denver, I read about his death. That hit me big time. I watched some of his games on FSN South and he is a darn good announcer. Very enthauistic on the Grizz and a huge basketball fan. He had a beautiful voice. This is a huge loss to the NBA, the Grizzlies franchise, and to the city of Memphis. I am really shocked. He never seemed to have health problems and he seemed energetic as always. I am stunned.

Don Poier passed away at 53 years old. That's scary. My dad is 57 and it sure makes me think more than ever with lot of people dying nowadays.
Enjoy each day and enjoy the people you speak to each day because you are not gurantee to see them the next day.

    I am shocked and saddened.

It's been a rough year for the Grizz with Hubie retiring and now this.

This really surprises the hell out of me. He seemed in great condition. I've heard many stories about how he and his wife would travel around the world every year in their RV, so he seems pretty energetic. I never knew he had health complications. What a loss.

BTW - Many of you may remember Poier from the NBA Live series. He was the commentator on many of them (like NBA Live 2000 and 2001 for example).

This is very tragic for the the Grizzlies organization and Memphis. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loveones.
