I've already expressed my impressions of Marcus Banks and his potential in this forum over the past few months, and I've already stated my belief that he could be a bonafide starting guard in this league over time. However, with Delonte getting activated, I think it's fair to say he'll likely lose even more minutes. It's no secret he's not held in the highest regard amongst The Cetlics bench and office, so is it safe to say a move would likely benefit both parties? Perhaps Banks and Blount for Samuel Dalembert? 76ers could use a point guard, some more youth, and I'm sure Jimbo would like to reunite with Mark Blount. What's your guy's opinions on the return of West, Marcus Banks's current playing time and potential, and my suggested trade?

I don't blame him either because Dalembert is a 6'11", athletic, shot blocking, center with potential. As for Marcus Banks, a strong, defensive minded point guard. I thought he was going to have a breakout year, he isn?t getting the minutes though. He will lose minutes to Delonte West because he is not producing, let him get better during the season and in practices and show that he should play more. Maybe trade him to a team like the Warriors, Mavericks, or Lakers where he will get the opportunity to get some playing time and show teams what he is worth.
^ I have a trade that would benifet for Banks. Right here Golden State trades: PG Derek Fisher (11.5 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.9 apg in 26.8 minutes) SF Mike Dunleavy (11.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.5 apg in 31.9 minutes) PF Clifford Robinson (9.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.9 apg in 26.9 minutes) Golden State receives: SF Paul Pierce (21.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 4.3 apg in 36.4 minutes) PF Al Jefferson (7.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 0.3 apg in 16.1 minutes) PG Delonte West (3.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.0 apg in 8.3 minutes) Change in team outlook: -0.7 ppg, +2.1 rpg, and -2.7 apg. Boston trades: SF Paul Pierce (21.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 4.3 apg in 36.4 minutes) PF Al Jefferson (7.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 0.3 apg in 16.1 minutes) PG Delonte West (3.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.0 apg in 8.3 minutes) Boston receives: PG Derek Fisher (11.5 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.9 apg in 26.8 minutes) SF Mike Dunleavy (11.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.5 apg in 31.9 minutes) PF Clifford Robinson (9.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.9 apg in 26.9 minutes) Change in team outlook: +0.7 ppg, -2.1 rpg, and +2.7 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Golden State and Boston being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Golden State and Boston had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We do this because we get Pierce and we get a guy that could come off the bench for us. Also we dump Fisher's contract and have him come off the bench, and we get rid of Dunleavy who will probably do better in the east Depth charts: PG: Speedy Claxton/ Luis Flores/ Delonte West SG: Jason Richardson/ Mickael Pietrus/ Calbert Cheany SF: Paul Pierce/ Mickael Pietrus/ Zarko Carparkapa PF: Troy Murphy/ Al Jefferson/ Zarko Carparkapa C: Andris Biedrins/ Adonal Foyle/ Dale Davis IR: Eduardo Najera Why Boston does it is that they get a guy to back-up Jiri Welsch and have two guys to mentor Marcus Banks. Also Cliff will give any team good minutes no matter where he is. That's probably the worst trade idea that I've ever seen. You've listed 3 of DA's untouchables, and the return value is crap.
^I did this in thought of the thread which was Banks needs to play more often, so I got rid of West so Banks could play more. Fisher could play behind Banks and Welsch/ Dunleavy would be a good combo. Also there have been a lot of rumors about Pierce being traded. Cliff is also a good guy for the transition three and is a good defender. If you want to bash me more about how much this trade sucks, the thread is right here http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31520
This one might make you happy Thrilla Golden State trades: PF Clifford Robinson (9.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.9 apg in 26.9 minutes) PG Derek Fisher (11.5 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.9 apg in 26.8 minutes) SF Mike Dunleavy (11.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.5 apg in 31.9 minutes) Golden State receives: SF Paul Pierce (21.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 4.3 apg in 36.4 minutes) PF Al Jefferson (7.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 0.3 apg in 16.1 minutes) PG Zoran Planinic (7.7 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.9 apg in 18.6 minutes) Change in team outlook: +4.0 ppg, +4.0 rpg, and -1.8 apg. Boston trades: SF Paul Pierce (21.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 4.3 apg in 36.4 minutes) PG Gary Payton (12.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 6.2 apg in 32.9 minutes) PG Marcus Banks (4.9 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 1.6 apg in 14.4 minutes) PF Al Jefferson (7.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 0.3 apg in 16.1 minutes) Boston receives: SF Mike Dunleavy (11.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.5 apg in 31.9 minutes) SG Rodney Buford (8.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 23.5 minutes) SG Ron Mercer (9.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.3 apg in 35.3 minutes) PG Jason Kidd (11.8 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 6.8 apg in 33.6 minutes) Change in team outlook: -4.9 ppg, +3.5 rpg, and +0.4 apg. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Why the Warriors do this is that they get a good back-up PG for Speedy, they get a star to go next to J-Rich in Paul Pierce, and we get someone with low post power to back-up Murphy. How about this.... New Jersey trades Jason Kidd and TWO 2nd Round Picks to The Celtics Boston trades Paul Pierce to The Blazers Boston trades Marcus Banks, Raef Lafrentz, Gary Payton, and Walter McCarty to New Jersey Portland trades Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Darius Miles to Boston Portland trades a 1st round draft pick to Boston So here's the new lineups: New Jersey: PG: Gary Payton (Marcus Banks soon to take over) SG: Vince Carter SF: Richard Jefferson PF: Brian Scalabrine/Walter McCarty C: Raef LaFrentz Boston: PG: Jason Kidd SG: Ricky Davis SF: Darius Miles PF: Shareef Abdur-Rahim C: Mark Blount (Bench: Al Jefferson, Jiri Welsch, & Tony Allen; Still a Deep Team) (Also aquired Portland's 1st Round Pick and Two 2nd Round Picks from New Jersey) Portland: PG: Damon Stoudemire SG: Nick Van Exel SF: Paul Pierce PF: Zach Randolph C: Theo Ratliff
Ok, I think we need to scale back our thinking here. I know its fun to see just how many teams and players you can cram into one trade, but a couple of these trades would completly overhaul these franchises and it's not happening just so the Celtics could get a second year, unproven guard some more playing time. A guard who, frankly, I don't think should get any more playing time (but I'll get to that in a second.) Pietrus, it's not your inclusion of Pierce that make your deals so far-fetched, its the inclusion of Jefferson. IMO, any deal with Jefferson (or Allen) is not happening, they're as close to untouchable as this roster gets. Also, in your second trade you have the Celtics getting back 2 more SG (Mercer and Buford), when they already have 3 guys (Ricky, Jiri and Allen) that their trying to find PT for... although I do appreciate the effort in trying to get GS 3 of the 4 best players in the deal. I think X3 was on the right idea track with his original trade, Dalembert for Banks and Blount (though, I'm not sure if Blount's 15% trade kicker screws it up). My suggestion is also on the much smaller scale: Utah trades: SG Raja Bell (11.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.4 apg in 28.2 minutes) Utah receives: PG Marcus Banks (4.9 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 1.6 apg in 14.4 minutes) Change in team outlook: -6.8 ppg, -1.8 rpg, and +0.2 apg. Boston trades: PG Marcus Banks (4.9 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 1.6 apg in 14.4 minutes) Boston receives: SG Raja Bell (11.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.4 apg in 28.2 minutes) Change in team outlook: +6.8 ppg, +1.8 rpg, and -0.2 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Utah gets a young PG to replace Arroyo who's also an energy guy to give them the shot in the arm that I think they need, Boston gets a more steady backup for Payton (I've always thought of Raja as more a PG than a SG), allowing West to learn watch and learn down the stretch. Banks' is a cheap deal for the next 2 years and Bell's a FA at the end of the year so its not hurting either teams cap. As for Banks himself: X3, I'm not nearly as high on him as you are. For my money he is far too inconsistent to ever be a starter in the NBA. I could easily see him being a change of pace guard off the bench and spot starter, a la Tony Delk, but you can't have your starting pg be a question mark every other night. He was terrible against NJ (2pts and a foul in 8 minutes) but I thought he was great against Atlanta (3 ast, 3 reb in 10 minutes). You just never know which Marcus is showing up. If nothing else, a starting pg should be consistent. Also, I don't think he's that great a defender, especially against the more cerebral points. The Marburys (offensive minded) points of the world, he does fine, but he can't match the Nashes or Bibbys of the league. Despite all that, though, I don't think the Celtics should trade him, cause good bench guys are what make good teams great, but I think he's the third guard until Payton departs after this year. Then he moves into the backup role. He's had around 35 games without West in the lineup where he could have proven himself to Doc, but he didn't. In my mind, that was plenty of time so show the team what he could do and he blew his opportunity. Now its West's turn.
Thank you CeltsMan. I've actually been a fan of Bell's for some time now. That deal would be great for both sides. On Banks, I couldn't agree more. Although, I think he can eventually be a starter if he gets his head screwed on straight. He has the raw talent, he just needs to figure out a way to use it to it's full potential.
Jesus! Why the HELL do you guys keep writing "TRADE ACCEPTED"??? These are some of the dumbest trade ideas Ive EVER heard. I mean it. Ive heard a lot of dumb trade ideas too. I actually think CeltsMan54s is pretty good but Utah wouldnt do it. youd have to be an idiot if youre utah. the Celtics AERENT going to trade AL JEFFERSON!! he and tony Allen are clearly the future of this franchise. and why would the celtics want Derek Fisher and Mike Dunleavy?? obviously if theyre trading PAUL PIERCE theyre going to ask for another mega star in return unless theres some other SERIOUS appeal for the long term and since Golden State doesnt have any mega stars the celtics would ask for Richardson and murphy Trade NOT Accepted
uhhh....The "TRADE ACCEPTED" means that they ran it through the trade checker at realgm, and just pasted it to their post.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting olskoolFunktitude:</div><div class="quote_post">I actually think CeltsMan54s is pretty good but Utah wouldnt do it. youd have to be an idiot if youre utah.</div> See, I don't think so. Utah just gave away Arroyo, so they're already down a point. Marcus is dying to prove that he can play at this level and the other day Sloan was saying the main problem with his team is that no one is playing with that type of intensity. Sure, Marcus has some holes in his game, but I'm pretty sure that Jerry Sloan could pick 10 guys off JustBball and coach them to 10 wins.
We'll give you Milt Palacio back for him. Come on, how can you resist that offer? Maybe Pape Sow (next shaq) for Al Jefferson. With Jefferson injured, and Blount not playing well, you'll have Pape who can give you 25 and 12 each night. Don't forget about his defense. Why do the Raps do this trade? Well cuz we're stupid. I mean Milt AND Pape for Jefferson and Banks...what a steal for the Celtics.
Luke Walton for Marcus Banks straight up. It's time for the Celtics to re-visit bringing the Red Head's son to the team. The Lakers are desperate for a defensive minded guard with speed, because as good as Chucky Atkins is on offense, he is equally as terrible on defense. Luke Walton would give the Celtics a fan favorite to cheer for off the bench. He could be the creator for the second team and setup Ricky Davis for a lot of mid range jumpshots. He would be another young forward the Celtics have to work with behind Perkins & Jefferson.
I keep hearing about that trade scenario, Shape. It just will not die, which almost makes me think it's still a possibilty. I wouldn't be opposed to the deal by any means.
I think you keep hearing about it because the celtics are seriously considering it. Doc is craving a big small forward (its the reason Justin Reed made the roster over Ernest Brown, who the organization really liked) and Walton is a great passer, perfect for up-tempo ball. I think the team is reluctant to pull the trigger for 2 reasons: 1. Delonte West. Yes, Doc is fan, but they really can't get a true read on the guy until he gets extended time on the court and he couldn't stay healthy long enough for them to do that. And even now that he's back, his conditioning is way off, so they still can't get him the minutes they want (hence, a DNP tonight against the Bulls). 2. Gary Payton. They're not going to trade Marcus if GP is also out of here at the deadline. Not unless they're getting a point back. They have to take a wait and see approach to this. There not going to leave the team with Delonte as the only point guard. I think Gary is the first domino to fall. I could easily see that deal going down near the deadline if there are no takers for Payton between now and then.
The latest I've heard on that deal is Banks and a 2nd rounder for Walton/Brian Cook. As for Gary, I don't know if there will be much out there for Danny to trade him for. I don't think Ainge will trade him just for the sake of trading him. Unless they get offered a lot more than Voshon Lenard/"Skita" from Denver (referenced in a Globe article), I don't see anything happening.

People had questions about him after last season with the Lakers, but I think he's pretty adequately answered most of those. I could see a stalling team like Denver going after him, but your right I don't think that Lenard and Skita is enough. I would also expected the Rockets to get involved, cause they seem to be hurting for some steady point play.
