I am not advertising anything here..I am thinking about purchasing one. I have some questions. I have asked roughly 15 people that have owned/own one..and all but one (a fellow JBB member) has told me to purchase it. So, if anyone has one...can you answer my following questions please? Which one should I get, the regular iPod or the iPod mini? How is the battery life on both? Is it easy to put songs on them? Are they durable? I heard the sound quality was trash, is this true? Just simple questions...also, if you have any other suggestions for an mp3 player..can you suggest those? *note- I need them to hold atleast 500 songs. Don't suggest the Dell Pocket DJ, had it...returned it Thank ya guys

For a bit of extra cash you get much more space to hold not only more songs, but use as an extra hard drive. I copy all my songs off at 320kbps, and they sound fine when I play them, whether it be listening to them on headphones, through speaker or through my Yamaha amplifier. It is very easy to put songs on them, it comes with a program called iTunes which is very simple. Put the song on your playlist, then update your ipod. It is all very quick and simple. I have noticed my iPod is getting scratched up very easilly, so I need to get some casing for it fairly quickly. According to Apple, you can get up to 12 hours of battery life on the iPod, and up to 8 hours out of the Mini. I haven't given my 40gb model a full testing in regards to battery life, but I charge it up probably only once a week, and I use it for my music listening needs as well as the extra HD space
I think iTunes is the greatest mp3 organizer application ever made. Its ability to set conditions and create SmartPlaylists is amazing to say the least. As a 4G iPod user, I can tell you I am more than satisfied with it. I bought an iPod mini at first, because in the past I always found 128 MB to be enough...but when I realized the beauty of having ALL of my songs on a 20GB iPod for just $50 more, I said "screw it," sold the mini and got a new iPod. Off the top of my head, I'd say the battery lasts 8 hours...assuming I'm not skipping songs left and right (skipping songs kills a lot of battery...its better to utilize Smart Playlists to prevent this). I've dropped my baby about 4 feet once...still works fine. (I have an iSkin case) Sound quality is great...it depends more on the headphones you have. The stock ones are pretty crappy to say the least. As long as you use iTunes, copying/sync'ing your songs will be automated. If you have the money, go for it.
Oh yeah, if you (or have a friend or older brother in college), you can get an educational discount which is 30% off. Check with the college's bookstore or bookstore website.
Mel said it all except that yes the quality is trash if you burn CD's through iTUNES, I use WMP to burn mine, it might take a bit longer but it's worth the time, as the quality is far superior than the iTUNES one.

Va't stand listening to 128kbps songs, they grate on me
