<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">From the day he re-signed for seven years and $136.4 million in July, Kobe Bryant spoke of the Lakers adopting an underdog mentality to get through their first season without Shaquille O'Neal and fight their way into the playoffs.
One full week with Bryant on the injured list, one question to point guard Chucky Atkins about earning respect after Friday's game, and the Lakers appear to have taken on the us-against-the-world attitude Bryant wanted to see.
"I don't think we're going to get respect all year, to be honest with you," Atkins said. "You read the paper. I don't see anybody ranting and raving about us. People probably want to know how we're doing it now.</div>

The Lakers will make the playoffs. They are playing better ball than the teams that were supposed to be in the top 5 in the western conference (Denver, Memphis, Houston, etc...). If we don't make the playoffs, I really will be shocked.
