HEAT Sign Qyntel Woods & Waive Jerome Beasley. Woods, in his third NBA season, has averaged 3.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in 8.8 minutes per game with the Portland Trail Blazers. In 62 games (eight starts) with the Trail Blazers last season, he averaged 3.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 10.9 minutes per game. He was waived by the Trail Blazers on January 21, 2005 without playing a game this season. A 6?8?, 221-pound forward, Woods was drafted by the Trail Blazers with the 21st pick in the 2002 NBA Draft. Prior to that, he spent two years at Moberly Arena Junior College in Missouri before transferring to Northeast Mississippi Community College where he averaged 32.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in 23 games. I still have faith in him. He still has a lot of potentiol. I think playing with Shaq and Wade will help his game a lot.
What a load of crap, we waived Beasley instead of Wang Zhizhi? Horrible. I like this signing, but we made a huge mistake in waving Beasley.
Woods Scouting Report For those not familiar with Qyntel Woods. He got into some trouble at Portland, but apparently he's filled with potential. He's only 23 years old. The following is from NBAdraft.net from the 2002 Draft. Woods was drafted with the 21st pick. Hopefully Woods can turn things around in Miami like Lamar Odom did. <font color="Red">Strengths</font>: Possibly the most talented prospect in the entire 2002 NBA Draft if he declares. Has skills that are unteachable. Part of the new breed of NBA players, of the Tracy McGrady, multi-skilled, ultra athletic types. A do it all player. One NBA insider I spoke to said he will be a top 3 pick and may end up the best player in the entire draft class.Comparing him to McGrady, he probably isn't the run jump athlete but his handle and shot are better. More importantly, "He's a good kid. I've met him and talked with his family, and he may not have taken the usual course to the NBA, but he's a good kid." Very versatile, extremely skilled wing player, with great size and quickness. Can handle the basketball extremely well at 6-9, scores with a variety of moves to the basket, and has a nice shooting stroke. Explosive player with very good scoring ability. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Peja King:</div><div class="quote_post">what's his story.. he fought with a dog? wtf?</div> ha.. no, go read up on it but this is great pickup for the Heat, he will turn into a huge contributor by playoff time, mark my words.
Riley wanted to take him in the 2002 draft. This is a good pickup for the Heat, Riley is a great judge of talent.
Anyone could've told you this was coming, Qyntel is talented and could be a great player in the NBA if he just got his head straight. Woods was going to get picked up by someone and the heat need a two gaurd from what I've seen and he will fill the need. Woods signing will probably take all the possible minutes it can from Dorell Wright.
if your wondering what happend to Qyntel he was found speeding in a car, didnt have insurance for the car, nad showed the police officer his BASKETBALL TRAIDING CARD because he didn't have his liscence with him and there was marjawana in the car!!! Had another incedint with marjawana and was fighting his pitbull with other dogs. there is 1 or 2 more things. Zach Randolph is verry good friends with him. I got the chance to meet him once and he is a nice guy though
What was so good about Jerome Beasly??? Was he straight outta high school or 1st year out of college or something? I don't really know much about the IR players cept for Dorell Wright... Qyntel Woods, hopefully will be a good player in the future.. we know how to set players straight in Miami.
since im a Portland fan, after he gets good, he better not do what Rasheed did and just say "it wasnt my fault what happen to me, it was just te cits of Portland" you cant blame all your problums on Portland!!
