<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Mel JBB:</div><div class="quote_post">There are a lot of hot rumors flying around... * 4G iPods in mini colors </div> My cousine coped it in pink last night at some store in South Beach.
I just ordered a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 30GB from BestBuy for $299 CDN. I know you can find it a lot cheaper in the states but not here. A 20GB Ipod goes for $399 CDN so it wasn't a very difficult decision at all. I will take the 10 extra GB's an save myself the money. I don't buy into this whole Ipod hype. Sure it looks nice, but the sound is not as good and sound is much more important to me than the "look". Creative makes the best sound cards in the world so they are known for their audio equipment. IMO you're paying extra for Apple's mass marketing and image and not on the actual product. And neither did I want to pay all that money for a mp3 player and have to pay an extra $100 every 1.5-2 years to replace my battery.
yeah, it was on sale online....I got one of the 3 that were left. They have the Nomad Zen Touch that's out now so this one went on sale. Electronics are so muich cheaper in the states...could've saved $50 on this
my man eclipse! you made a very wise descision...and you're talking some serious sense in your post. you got an extra 10gigs, and saved yourself $100 !! you'll love it...i love mine. that wheel thing is pretty cool. you got an awesome deal for sure man...i paid $279 for mine, and its a 20gb, so you totally lucked out you're right...creative make some of the worlds best audio equipment, so you know you're getting a good product good marketing does not = good product
Mini..still 40 bucks off of original price though...I am happy with the mini though.I run with it, weight lift with it..its great, no problems so far..
I just realized that it was a sale online, so I hurried and tried to get one, but it's sold out at both Futureshop.ca and Best Buy. Stuff like this sells fast...
I always do my research before buying these kind of things....iPod looks the best, is a little smaller and has the new click wheel but Creative's are much cheaper and better sounding. It wasn't a difficult choice for me at all. I looked into the iPod Mini too but apparently it has major problems with it's battery life. It also cost $100 U.S to replace the battery on the iPod (you have to ship the whole thing to Apple too) while it's $50 U.S to get a replacement battery for a Nomad. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trip:</div><div class="quote_post">I just realized that it was a sale online, so I hurried and tried to get one, but it's sold out at both Futureshop.ca and Best Buy. I was kicking myself for not seeing it earlier but then I stumbled on it while I was browsing the net at 3:00am, they got more in and I bought it first and thought about it later. Just keep checking it and you might get lucky like I did. I just got mine today and I love it so far. BTW: I had to return my new black/blue Shox R4's ($230 CDN) back to Athletes World because I couldn't afford both.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Yep, new iPods! Here?s the run down: * A new 6GB iPod mini (no color screen!) * The 4GB iPod mini gets a price cut to $199 * The 20GB iPod stays at $299 * The iPod photo now comes in two sizes: a 30GB version which goes for $349 and a 60GB version which sells for $449</div>http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000717032972/ Better battery life, price cuts and slimmer designs.
Man, those will be monster prices when they get translated to Canadian cash. The 30GB will probably be at $499 CDN and the 60GB...$649?
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...d=&newdeptid=19 I saw this today and I was wondering if I should get it. It's the upgrade over the Zen original, and basically is the same thing with a scroll wheel to emulate the iPod. Would you guys recommend the Creative Zen Touch over the Sony? Sony has 30 hours of battery life but costs $20 more ATM. http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...05&newdeptid=19
Can't remember where I read it, but Apple has decided to use a new processor for the next generation iPods (probably for fall 2005). These chips are three times more power efficient...which means three times the battery life. ~45 hours of battery, baby!!

Just get yourself a decent pair of headphones and you'll be impressed. Unfortunately though, it seems like they priced it too high, it's even more expensive than the 20GB iPod which doesn't make much sense. Don't get the Sonys, you'll have to convert all your mp3s to their propietory format (it think it's aTrac). None of the Sonys support the mp3 format yet. The new line they have coming out will, but as of now they don't. Just for comparisons sake, I decided to get the new 20GB iPod the other day. I love the touch sensitive scroll wheel and the white backlight. It's actually much smaller than my Nomad but the sound quality is not that great. The bass is especially bad, even with a decent pair of headphones. The "bass booster" isn't much help either, it just distorts the music when you turn it up. I don't recommend the iPod if you like bass in your music. Now if only my Nomad were just a little smaller I would be completely happy.
Zen Touch now $349. I made a commitment to buy it today when I saw the flyer on Friday but all stores around me were out of stock when I checked online this morning. Seems like I'll have to wait a few days.
I went out yesterday and got myself a 512MB iPod Shuffle to compliment my 20GB iPod. Never thought I would actually buy a player that's so stripped-down-to-the-basics but it sure beats the paranoia of losing/breaking my 20GB. Worry-free running to the gym and relaxing to music on the beach = I love how I can use it as a USB thumb drive to transfer school documents between computers too.

Mine can do that too. What I don't like about the shuffle is the lack of a LED screen. I wouldn't know what song I'm listening to, and I sure would like to at times. I guess they had to do it to keep the player small and the cost low. How much is a 512mb Shuffle in USD? It's 129 Canadian and the 1gb model is 189.

Then I noticed that I don't look at the LED screen because my smart playlists (via iTunes) are managed extremely well. I never thought I'd see the day when I could live without an LED screen... On the otherhand, there are definite times when I want a screen, usually when I'm on a long road trip or something along those lines. Situations like this are when I'll gladly sacrifice size & weight for "power usage" of my iPod. But for short runs to the gym or relaxing on the beach, its the exact opposite -- I value portability over power usage. I have the option for the best of both worlds. It depends on your music-listening habits, really. I definitely could not see myself with an iPod Shuffle as my sole, one-and-only mp3 player...and I'm sure most of you feel the same way. But using it as a compliment to my 20GB iPod, it fits my lifestyle perfectly. As for prices: 512MB is $100, 1GB is $150

If you don't need 20GB of space, get something smaller. It has all the same features of the Touch (and more), has the same sound quality and it's a ton smaller and lighter. Got mine for $299 and paid extra for the 3 year warranty. If case anything goes wrong I can just get the new model
