Somebody please tell me how one roots for the Clippers over the Lakers.I mean dont get me wrong i guess if someday the Lakers are out of the playoffs and the Clippers are still in it then i will pull for them to win but for the life of me i am absolutely BAFFLED as to HTF one roots for the Clippers over the Lakers.I grew up in OC(Fullerton area) and still live there, but watching Majic and company build a dynasty as a kid growing up(early 80's),listening to Chicky and Keith Erickson then later Stu Lantz i was hooked.I suffered through the Randy Pfund regime and never thought twice about trading my allegiance to be a Clipper fan!!!
Are all these Clipper fans who used to go to the old sports arena and now Staples center San diego transplants or what??? If your not close friends or a family member of a person affiliated to the Clipper organization WHY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH WOULD YOU ROOT FOR THE CLIPPERS OVER THE LAKERS?? I mean somebody please clue me in here i'm at a loss!!??!!??

Not everyone has to like the same team man?

I root for the Wizards, is that allowed?

The Clippers are a young and exciting team, some people get sick of the Lakers..it happens..

    Is this thread necessary?

I'm talkin about LA FANS , "ANGELINOS" NON TRANSPLANTS ,,people in so-cal that arent wizard fans or any other teams,,,LA FANS

Don't get it wrong, I love the Lakers..born in raised in Socal..have lived here for 13 year, I spent 3 years in VA where I started watching the Wizards...

Just because you are from L.A. doesn't mean you have to like the Lakers at all, you can like the Clippers..there is no law that says it is a must to like the Lakers over the Clippers

I can explain you my reason. I grew up in LA all my life and seen both the Lakers and the Clips. The Lakers were cool during the Magic years, but I always supported the Clips as well. I haven't really been much into the Clips as I was until last year during the draft. To me, it's about supporting a team that is against all odds. If you grew up with a silverspoon in your mouth or never understood the meaning of struggle then you would not like the Clips. If you are all about being hollywood then you probably would not like the Clips either. If you are all about being a so-called 'winner' then you definitely won't bangwagon to the Clips. A person who would support the Clips is a person who sees potential in something, and roots for it to overcome all odds that are against it. I mean, if you are the bully type or like to oppress others then you definitely would not understand why people would still support others that struggle but try to still make something good happen. That's why the playoffs is so important to the Clips. This is a team with little success history with critics always downing them. The playoffs, especially in the west, is a way to show that the Clips are not lossers, they're winners. That is why the Pistons are another favorite team for me. You wouldn't have ever thought they would go all the way and until now, most probably never knew who these players were. They were about team basketball, believing in theirselves, and putting in hard work to make it up there. Not by signing the lastest and greastest players and then claim to be winners...although they did try for kobe, but they hardly do something like that in general. Nevertheless they are still a young and exciting team that you like to root for. If you like rag to riches stories, stories where one overcomes the battle of cancer or something ruthless after doctors told you you were not going to make it, or even the American revolution, then you would probably root for the Clips cause you want to see a similar thing happen.

Tryin' to make a $1 outta 0.15...That's just my reason.

Great reponse bro ,,,you too ARENAS/WIZARDS FAN,,,you guys have the right to root for whatever team you want ,,,i think you guys are missing my point or i might not be articulating this very well and i apologize if thats the case.

Not a knock on you guys WHAT SO EVER,,,but i am a true fan ,,every team i like in all 3 major sports i stick with through thick and thin .I don't have more than 1 favorite team, I wish i had the ability to do so but unfortunatley i don't.I have always been a DIE-HARD RAIDERS, LAKERS, and DODGERS fAN ALL MY 28 YEARS.

To keep this short once again, I DON'T HATE THE CLIPPERS , if my Lakers end up out of the playoffs and the Clippers make it i wish them nothing but the best,,,,I just want to know What is a die hard Clipper fan ,or better yet IS THERE SUCH A THING? Is it a transplant from San Diego where the Clipps came from in 84,maybe its the cheaper tickets?? If your born and raised in SO-CAL and are at least 20 years old or so,,are not related or friends with anybody affiliated with Clipper's organization and also go by the DIE HARD FAN MENTALLITY of having 1 team 4 LIFE,,,,,,,Why would you be a Clippers fan??? I think you are right on the money when you say people like to root for the underdawg thats what a Clipper fan is ,,i agree 100% ,but thats after my team is out of the picture. For example my Raiders arent in the superbowl so i want the 7 point dawg eagles to win.....SORRY im on a serious RANT MAN,,,i guess my conclusion is being a die-hard fan and rooting for a team are not necassarily the same things.
