Alright with the amount of posts I?ve been seeing, and things I?m hearing, I am getting really scared. I?m trying to keep the faith but, I also want to have a decent grip on reality. Very hypothetically, if Allan doesn?t regain his composure that he once had, what can we do? Marbury needs a good shooter, a zone off (not the play), a floor spreader so that he can become effective to his climax. Jamal Crawford is good, but he isn?t a shooter. Sure he can take off pressure from Marbury but he will not really make you pay the way Allan Houston did. Two slashers will not be nearly as effective as a shooter and one. The combination is perfect and is what helped us become a very good team. Remember how Houston and Van Horn rained down 3?s? Even when Houston was gone, Van Horn?s shooting alone proved instrumental in helping us get some wins against good teams. I have looked at a couple of shooting scenarios that I think might benefit us now tell me what do you guys think about them.

The first one you guys are oh too familiar with. He?s from New York (Long Island to be exact.) He has a funny last name, and currently plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves. For all of those who don?t know who I?m talking about, should be ashamed! Wally Szczerbiak would be a great fit for us. A great shooter a great floor spreader is exactly what we need. The only catch is will we want to trade away Kurt Thomas. Kurt Thomas is very consistent, he is a good rebounder and he is also a good defender. Trading him is very risky. Then again, Sweetney will get the time that he really deserves and will get the time to develop into the future NBA star that he is. He will be getting confidence, experience, and skill. He is a great factor for our future and maybe he will surprise us some more if he gets legitimate starter experience. Also Jerome Williams who gets less burn than he deserves, gets more time. Vin Baker who also showed us some good things against Phoenix will get some more time and maybe he can have the same effectiveness that he had last year.

Another shooter that I want to look at is Mike Miller. He is a good shooter and again, will help us in that position. He is talented and was even the rookie of the year a little while back. It was a weak class but, at least he dominated. Judging from what many Grizzly fans said, I guess it wouldn?t be too difficult to get him. The only problem that I really have with him is that he is a bit injury prone. The Knicks with Hardaway, Houston and the rest of them, can ill afford to have another valuable acquisition go down. If he stays healthy, we have a versatile 6?8 shooter who can help us win back the conference we were owning not too long ago. I think Miller along with Stephon Marbury, will be a deadly combo.

The other concern have is what will such an important role player have on someone like Trevor Ariza. We have seen what he is capable of like what he did against Phoenix. He is probably our best perimeter player and probably the one with the biggest upside. If he can come as a freshman from college, and get some minutes on a team full of swingmen, have Lenny Wilkens coaching, and with as high standards that New York, you know how good this guy will be! Ariza will be a future NBA superstar and if someone took away his minutes, that will just take away his development like Frank Williams. We don?t need something like that happening. If something like this happens and Ariza walks out on us, not only will we feel like crap, but it will come to haunt us when Ariza plays against us on another team.

This is a very challenging situation for us. The Knicks can definitely use a shooter and outside threat, but we don?t want to take away possible minutes for our young players. What should we do? I personally don?t know however, I do think we should wait until the offseason when Tim Thomas leaves(hopefully), and maybe we can divide the minutes up. What do you guys think?

I guess maybe not since Houston isn't planning on retiring.
