Six years, SIXTY MILLION! The kiss of death! I predict Brady will either a) Have his worst year as a pro or Spend half of the season sidelines with injuries or c) Both Good for him, though. He's earned the coin...even if he were to never play another down. **************************** REPORT: Patriots sign QB Brady to six-year, $60 million deal BRISTOL, Connecticut - Tom Brady apparently has received a handsome reward for leading the New England Patriots to three of the last four Super Bowl titles. ESPN.com is reporting that the two-time Super Bowl MVP quarterback has signed a six-year, $60 million contract. According to the report, the contract includes a $14.5 million signing bonus and a $12 million option bonus that is due next spring. Brady had two years remaining on his previous deal but now is signed through 2010. Since being drafted in the sixth round out of Michigan in 2000, Brady has guided the Patriots to victories in Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX. He was named MVP in the first two Super Bowls. Having drawn numerous comparisons to Hall of Famer Joe Montana, Brady has compiled a 48-14 record in the regular season, the best winning percentage (.774) among quarterbacks with at least 40 starts in the Super Bowl era. Montana's record was 117-47 (.713). Brady, 27, also is unbeaten in the postseason at 9-0, matching Bart Starr's postseason record of nine consecutive wins. In his career, Brady has completed 1,243-of-2,018 passes for 13,925 yards, 97 touchdowns and 52 interceptions.
I think he will have his best year yet. He isnt scheduled to make a lot of money until the 3rd year of the contract. His base salary for '05 is only 1 million. The rest is just bonuses. I think TB will have an MVP season.
Pack...why is it a kiss of death? The guy is a class act with more discipline and character than probably anyone in the NFL he works hard everyday and is why he stays healthy..he could have held us hostage for a 100+ mil 30+ mil bonus cap killer but instead he took a very cap friendly contract for the good of the franchise...he is a model of what the NFL is all about. Nevermind that belichick is going to be the O-coordinato and not change the system or terminology that charlie had in place one bit...I think thats the best news I have heard yet. Brady will be one of the eilite QB's for years to come...and will continue to make smart decisions unlike some guy in GB...
ya know what, usually id say this is too much $$$. but ya know what, this guy earns every penny. 3 super bowls in 4 years and unbeaten in playoffs. i say goopd luck and hope that he doesnt get screwed up somehow. maybe now my Tom Brady rookiue card can be worth something

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Pack...why is it a kiss of death?</div> Oh, don't get me wrong... I love Tom Brady. I think he deserves every penny. And I'm glad he didn't try to break the bank by getting a McNabb/Manning/Vick type contract. I was joking, really. In my opinion, the Patriots are due for some bad Karma. Brady getting hurt after signing a huge deal would certainly qualify as "bad karma." In all seriousness, though, I doubt it will happen. Brady is a solid, solid QB.
If anything, Belichick might be biting off more then he can chew. Being an offensive coordinator is not easy, and he will need a buffer between himself and Brady.

Brady ahs already done that and continues to do good.
If the Eagles wouldn't pay McNabb that money, someone else would. The guy is one of 4 players in the last 39 years to have winning percentage of 70%. Considering how much money these guys make for their teams, they all deserve what they get paid. Same with Walker. It's people like TO, who already got the big bucks that piss me off. And I am tired of people saying how he cant win a big game. It is a team sport. Brady doesnt win by himself, no one does. Look at Elway, he couldnt win the big game until he got Terrell Davis to run the ball, now people look at him as one of the best ever. Football is the ultimate team sport...
no. mcnabb does deserve money. just not that much. i dont think a lot of players deserve the cash they get, and then say that 15 muillion isnt enough. thats what pisses me off

Football is the ultimate team sport...</div> McNabb has the skill and ability to win a big game theres no doubt about that. The problem is that he also has the ability to choke away a big game. No doubt that football is a team sport, you're right it is. However the QB is a very important part of the team and offense. As far as I'm concerned they're leaders and if they're getting choked up every big game there is only so much the rest of the team can do. The QB runs the offense when they're on the field and starts all the plays, if the QB isnt having a good game then the WRs can only do so much to help the team, and against good D's the run game can only do so much. (As seen in the Falcons/Eagles game) Then you're left with your D and they can only stop so much, and if the offense isnt putting up any points the game is lost. Now you cant blame an entire loss on the QB, because there are other factors. I do believe that much like a goalie in hockey can make or break a game with how well or how poorly they play, a QB can do the same thing in football.
I think its cool hes still with the Pats..He will do relly good and hope he keeps it up..(but not all the super bowls)
With that deal, he is going to turn the Patriots into another Manning team; best offense, no defence.

Let's be honest. Winning percentage is important but then Jay Feidler's pretty high too & you know the rest of that story.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MKIV_Supra)</div><div class='quotemain'>With that deal, he is going to turn the Patriots into another Manning team; best offense, no defence.</div> What are you talking about???? He took a cap friendly deal to do the opposite..thats the whole point if this thread.....and oh ya...last I checked..our defense is still very good and getting younger where it counts...D-Line.

i agree with Pats its great Brady took such a cap friendly team friendly deal. It really shows a lot about his character considering he could have milked that Pats for 100 mill if he really wanted to. I really respect him for that and thats coming from a Jets fan. Hes probably one of teh model players in the game, it should always be team first, its what Belicheck has always preached and it really comes out in this deal. I hate when players like Manning screw their team over by taking a 100+ mill deal and leaving their team with nothing. good for Brady he earned it
