<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Last Tuesday night in Charlotte, before the Celtics beat the Bobcats, Gary Payton was contemplating his soon-to-be-over life as a Celtic, saying, "Two more weeks? Three more weeks?" He knows. Everyone knows. What he doesn't know yet is where he's going to end up. Payton thinks Minnesota and Sacramento are possible destinations. Asked about that, one general manager said, "Minnesota is desperate to make a deal." But would the Timberwolves be desperate enough to take on Payton, who is in the last year of his contract? Kevin McHale, the Wolves' vice president of basketball operations, was asked last fall for his thoughts on Payton coming to Boston. "That can either be really, really good or really, really bad," he said. Well, it hasn't been really, really either. Payton hasn't whined, moaned, pouted, demanded to have the ball all the time, or mouthed off. That's good. And he is an upgrade at point guard.</div> link
Payton is too old, and his best years are behind him. Hes not that great of an upgrade if he even is. We need young players for the future
if it includes giving out cassel- i don't know...cassel has such great connection with this team of players...and i don't know if it's worth risking it when we don't know in what shape payton gonna fit in minny...his best days are trully behined him..though cassel's probably too but he is what he his and with he's experience i'd say only if we bring in a good center or maybe davis for and give away sprewell it might but just might even worth the risk...
oh man, that would be bad we have enough old all-stars on this team as it is. The last thing we need is a really old point guard who tends to whine and will more than likely want to be a leader on the team. What we need from a trade right now is a hungry young player who will give us consistent play for 48 minutes every night. Payton has to be one ofhe worst guys we could bring in to help the situation.
Hey i just read that the cletics are looking to trade paul priece as well what about if we help them out there and trade> Paul Priece Gray payton Raef lefranz for Sam cassell Spree candi man I think we would get a lot better in two positions by getting a younger and better player in priece compared to spree, At center we would for sure be getting better then candi cause really whats not better then candi, and while i would hate to lose cassell gary payton still can play and we would still have troy and A C to play point plus if gary payton can be more a of pass first point gruad that might be great for US overall. I think if we can pull off a trade for priece it would be great cause he has three years left on his contract and priece and KG would make a great Combo, and with wally coming off the bench it would still be great scoring punch. what do you all think?????
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Paulijacks:</div><div class="quote_post">Hey i just read that the cletics are looking to trade paul priece as well what about if we help them out there and trade</div> No, you didn't. You might have read an article about how the writer thinks they should trade Pierce, but you didn't read that the Celtics are looking to trade Pierce, because they aren't doing so. (publicly, at least)

It's fantastic for us, but terrible for them. They are getting the worst center in the league, Sam Cassel, (still pretty good) and Spree( too inconsistent to be of value to any team) For a star player, and ex-star player who can still get it done(I put sam cassel as an equal trade for Gary, they are very similiar in quality) and another decent player. Just isn't going to happen.
