any one know why tmac doesnt drive in and slam it down any more? I am a big fan of tmac because of his ability to drive in the lane and dunk on any one. but it seems now hes been settling for the long jumpers. and when he does drive in he passes it out to someone that misses an open three. any one got any ideas y he changed his game?
Things are much more different when Yao Ming is down low. Driving would just clog up the lane and make it harder for T-Mac. Also, from the point of view regarding his future, driving less could actually prolong McGrady's career, due to the decrease in the banging and knocking that he takes when he penetrates. His bony body and bad back probably won't allow him to play that way past 30, so driving less has its benefits too.
Thats what I said a long time ago in another thread. Driving into the lane where you're basically at the mercy of big centers and powerforwards can't be too good for your body. Take a look at Allen Iverson, the man has suffered numerous injuries, its in a thread somewhere, but I think almost every single joint in his body has suffered some sort of injury. That can't be good in the long run if a player still wants to play in the league. However, he does drive into the lane time to time, and I see it more often when Yao is on the bench, so that would probably confirm Trip's theory with Yao clogging up the lane. But that question has continually risen in my head as well, McGrady's a great athletic player that has one of the best one on one skills in the league yet he doesn't take advantage by driving into aggressively to get foul shots or layups. He's been known to jack up threes and jumpshots when he shouldn't be, so I guess its a question of his focus in the game.
Now this is what I hate about not having ANY nba games at all. Relying on stats really doesn't allow you to see HOW a team atually plays. oh well.
