He's making a case for becoming an MIP candidate.

His numbers per 40 minutes over the years from RealGM:

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Dickau ' PTS ''''' RB ''''' AS ''''' ST '''' BK ''''' TO ''' PF ''' TS% '''' PPA
    2004 '''' 18.2 ''' 4.1 ''' 5.2 ''' 1.2 ''' 0.1 ''' 3.0 ''' 4.0 ''' .538 ''' 12.7
    2003 '''' 12.9 ''' 3.5 ''' 5.2 ''' 2.3 ''' 0.0 ''' 3.5 ''' 6.0 ''' .456 '''''' 5.9
    2002 '''' 14.2 ''' 3.3 ''' 6.6 ''' 1.1 ''' 0.2 ''' 4.1 ''' 5.1 ''' .504 '''''' 8.2 </div>

    <u>Last 9 games:</u> 18.4 PPG, 45.6% FG%, 34.6 3PT%, 6.1 APG, 3.9 RPG, 1.2 SPG, 2.7 turnovers, 36.9 mins

Very noticable improvements are that his TS% is up and his foul rate is down. If he continue this, he could be right up there with Bobby Simmons as players who improved more than just their minutes. Joel Przybilla has also been doing pretty good as a starter.

Dickau to me has always been a capable player. He was being skipped over because of the talent that his teams always had at point guard. In New Orleans, Baron Davis got hurt, so Dickau became the starter by default. IMO, he is already one of the best passers in the league, and he has proven to show up in clutch situations. However, I doubt that Dickau would win the MIP. Candidate, sure, but the Hornets aren't winning.

Dickau wasn't a good passer in colleg though, he was a scoring PG, and not known for his passing at all, just his ability to shoot and score. What I've heard from people who watched him progress is that his game has improved a lot from his college days and his first year till now in terms of learning to run a team, and be a playmaker.

He is really not improved, he is just getting minutes. Give any player 30+ minutes a game, and they will put up some fairly impressive numbers; espically when compared to a season when they were the 12th man, or on the Injured list.

No, not every player, their's guys who will get 30+ minutes and shoot 34% from the floor and average 5 turnovers a game. PG is a tough position, I've seen guys like Lorinza Harrington get the minutes, and do nothing with it.

He's scoring while shooting WELL, and he's not turning the ball over a lot, every player can't do that just because they get minutes. Milt Palacio can't, Moochie Norris can't, Tyronn Lue can't etc...

What does Dickau's team not winning have to do with anything.Isnt MIP a personal achievement award?
