<div align="center"> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Phil Jackson is currently vacationing in Australia with Luc Longley and was asked via an e-mail about any possible scenario in which he would return to the Lakers, Jackson said: "[I am] mulling that over in my mind. Luc and I are going for a swim this p.m. [in the] Indian Ocean." Kobe Bryant has already indicated that he would agree to it, if Jackson decided that he would like to return to the Lakers. </div> Full Article</div> Wow! Just the fact that Buss is discussing a possible return of Phil Jackson, and that Phil himself said he'd think about it makes it very interesting. I don't think it'd be a good move for the Lakers to rehire Jackson, we'll see. <div align="center">...</div>
well i actually like the idea of them resigning phil. I mean which coach knows kobe more than Phil Jackson? No ohter coach know him period. thats just in my opinon though. I believe this could help the whole situation with kobe and phil tremendously. I think this could mend some of the drama that was going on there. And also maybe kobe knows that phil could help him. Then maybe phil knows that he can help kobe. either way i like phil coming back. i think he could help there franchise a bunch.
The Lakers do not have a dominant center now who would be the center of the Triangle. If Jackson takes over, he would have to build a new system, and that could take the rest of the season for the Lakers to perfect. It could work wonders once the Lakers get to the playoffs, but do you think Kobe would once again dedicate himself to the new coach after all the bad things Jackson said about him? Personally, I doubt it would happen.
Wow! If Phil was brought back as head coach of the Lakers I would be very suprised, considering the way he left LA in the first place. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Lakers do not have a dominant center now who would be the center of the Triangle.</div>I don't understand this comment. There wasn't a dominant center in Chicago in the Jordan era either, but the Bulls still perfected the triangle offense under Phil anyways.
I just can't believe that Phil is actually entertaining the idea of coming back and coaching Kobe especially after all the things he said about Kobe in his book and what not. I just can't see this happening and I think we should focus on a more realistic candidate to take over.

I really think Kobe could thrive under Phil in the triangle, I really think Lamar could too. I think Kobe would except Phil back, they may of had some bad blood, but you know it won't be as bad because Shaq isn't there. Kobe will get his shots, Lamar will get shots..I really think the triangle could work with this team.
The ironic thing about all this is that this squad is a better fit for the triangle than any other Lakers team over the past 7 years. The triangle is heavily dependant on interchangable parts, and there are few that are as verstatile as Kobe-Butler-Odom. In addition, every member of that Laker squad (big men included) has the ability to step out and hit the jumper. However, a post presence is neccesary, just like the Bulls had Jordan and the Lakers had Shaq. This is where I feel Odom could shine under Phil.. The prospects of Phil returning intrigues me because I think he can do wonders with the type of players on this squad. However, I'm pretty sick of all that Kobe-Phil drama, so revisiting that can be a problem. But like NVE said above, I highly doubt any of this will happen and perhaps we should focus on more probable canidates. .
I hope the Zen Master comes back because i can guarantee you that he will turn Kobe and Lamar into Jordan and Pippen. I also think the triangle offense will work to perfection considering they have no Big Fat Bastard to average 23 3-second violations per game.

WE WANT PHIL WE WANT PHIL WE WANT PHIL WE WANT PHIL WE WANT PHIL WE WANT PHIL. Ok back to being serious again. Phil would be great right now.
I'm really curious as to how this will play out for the Lakers if ever the Zen Master comes back to Los Angeles. Comparing the championship era Bulls to the Lakers of this season, I think it could work. It would be Jordan-Pippen = Kobe-Odom. You have Butler usually playing well, giving his heart out (let's just say Rodman). Chucky Atkins chucking up threes (pun intended) = Steve Kerr (I know, not the same accuracy...) and we got Chris Mihm (Longley??? Cartwright??). Only time will tell. I guess the first thing we need is a confirmation that he'll be back.
^edit button homie, and if Hubie Brown gets hired, the Grizzlies woulda gotten shafted big time. It will be very interesting if Phil Returns, and even funnier, would be The Wilkens Era in LA. It was suggeste don another forum as a joke, and I pray for the lakers if Lenny is hired. On the other hand....Hire Lenny, yes, that will be perfect for the lakers.. *cough*...
Well I just want to know soon what Phil's decision is. Will he come back this season? Maybe. This reminds me of the Malone situation with all the speculation and rumors going around. Please Buss- just make a decision! Give Phil an offer. If not him, grab somebody else.
