the first player that came to my mind, for the spurs, when I saw this thread was Malik Rose. Rose has been called underrated at times. I also think he is an underachiever too. So from the Spurs standpoint i see why they would want Marshall. Because Marshall is the exact opposite of Rose. Marshall also is an underated player. But Marshall is not an underachiever as rose is at time. I dont know if this trade is a equal swap. I think that the spurs should add something els in this mix. I believe they should add maybe Devin Brown also or Uldrich. I think that wouls make this an even trade for the raps.
I don't think that the Spurs need to get themselves a chucker like Marshell. He doesn't like to bang around as much inside, and only wants to throw up 3's. I can see why they would offer Malik, he doesn't get much time and with the money they've invested in him, he needs more playing time. Now I can see the Spurs going after a better back up center. Massenberg is doing a great job in replacing Rasho, so now we need to get rid of Rasho instead. Just my opinion, but he's been a bust ever since they got him.
^Have you seen Donyell Marshall play at all? He has the ability to play inside and is an added threat on the outside with his 3 point capability. Let's not hate on the guy because he is a 4 that can shoot 3's. He is also an underrated rebounder and defender. From what I heard the Spurs are only offering Malik Rose for Marshall and that is counter active to what the Raptors are trying to do with their team. First of all they want young talent, if they don't get young talent they would want an expiring contract at least. Malik Rose is none of those things. Consider this trade denied.

They already have a good deal of good 3 point shooters(Beno, Brent, Robert, Manu), so why bring in another person to do it? The Spurs need another center not another 4 man. To me, it just seems that he doesn't want to play close to the basket, he wants to shoot 3's like most of the rest of the Raps, which is their big problem imo. I think he is an underrated defender, and he wouldn't be a bad fit in that aspect for the Spurs. According to how you see the Raps rebuilding, if you want to call it that, I agree that Malik doesn't fit.

Hmmm, so maybe Pop's actually being a bit generous offering Malik, or maybe he figures the Raptors are the generous ones. Heh.
Pop just wants to get rid of Malik's contract. Otherwise he would be more than happy having him on the team.
