Pure talked about Wolves management and all in the Bucks/Timberwolves thread. This certainly had me thinking about McHale tonight. I personally think McHale needs to be fired. Someone has to be accountable for this disaster and I think it's time for McHale to go.

McHale hasn't impressed me when you look at his body of work. Yes he made great trades last year, but this team has to retool and rebuild. Do you trust McHale to retool and rebuild this team from scratch? I don't. Did you know he bypassed Steve Nash and traded Ray Allen for Stephon Marbury in 1997? Steve Nash was with the Timberwolves for three months before he got drafted. He was spending time with McHale and Flip for workouts for three months. What did McHale didn't see that others found? For three months, he should have known. He fell in love with Marbury's game never mind that Marbury was a problem child going back to his college and H.S. days. Isn't this McHale or his front office staff's responsibility to do extensive research and homework on Marbury? McHale or someone from his staff should have spoken to Marbury's college coach or HS coach about him.

How about he drafting Wally Sczerbiak when Shawn Marion was available in 1999? Wally has been okay, but he is a role player. With a high draft pick, much was expected out of him. I don't think McHale and his staff did their homework on the rest of the players. I bet Wally was drafted for his heroics in March Madness.

How about when McHale decided to try to do a wink-wink contract on freaking JOE SMITH? WTF was he smoking? It's one thing to do it for guys like Nash, Jason Kidd, Baron Davis, KG, Shaq, Kobe, or any max player, but JOE FUCKING SMITH. C'mon. Smith has done shit in Golden St and Philly yet he had one good career year and you are ready to do a wink-wink deal. Wolves deserved to be punished just for that.

How about when McHale accepted that stiff Terrell Brandon in the Marbury trade and signed him for a max? McHale could have accepted Cassell back then for Marbury and lived with it.

How about when McHale refused to take the Lakers offer in trading Googliota for Elden Campbell and Eddie Jones? Campbell and Jones may not have been great, but they were better in return for Googs. Instead, Googs left us in the cold and went to Phoenix. We could have build with KG, Eddie Jones, and Elden Campbell back then.

Why didn't we fork up the money for Billups? I understand Chauncey wanted to start, but I really thought he could have started here and Terell would have come off the bench.

How about when McHale foolishly wasted a draft pick in William Avery who is out of the NBA? Paul Grant was a disaster. I know second-round picks are not supposed to blossom, but couldn't we have found one diamond in the rough. Did we have to draft a homeboy in Rick Rickert?

McHale had no clue when it came to drafting Euros.

It's time for Kevin to get a pink slip. He did the best he could. When I see teams like the Suns and the Spurs develop young talent, I sure as hell like to see my own team develop talent too. I am not going to blame him for what has happened this year, but my point is this team has to retool and rebuild for the future. Wolves are nowhere near close to Phoenix and San Antonio level. Signing veterans is not going to fix that. Those are bandaid solutions. It's time to start drafting well and I don't want to hear excuses about lack of draft picks.

McHale and his staff has failed when it comes to doing homework and research on players. If McHale ran the Twins, he would be a utter failure. Don't ever put him in the same sentence with Terry Ryan. At least with Terry Ryan (Twins GM), he and his front office know what they are doing and find guys who can play and be good character guys.

McHale has to go. It's time to find the next Bryan Colangelo, R.C. Buford, John Paxson, or Donnie Walsh.

There should be no question if McHale should go.
You covered everything, I cant add anything to all of the huge mistakes hes made....except:

What the **** was going through his head when he decided to obtain Cassel and Sprewell? True, it worked out well for a season, but what was he planing on doing in 2-3 seasons when 90% of the team retired?

McHale isn't 100% to blame for this season, but he is a big part of it. Go back up and look at all the players he missed, take any combination of them and put them into a lineup we could have today. Yeah, we would probably be a damn good team.

But theres no point in lookinng at the past. They should get Mchale's ass out of minnesota so he can go pick his nose for some other team.
